335i - Automatic Transmission Code 5087 (Car not going into DS mode)

Car: 2008 335i e93 - 100k miles
I just recently purchased and had a used transmission (with 60k miles) installed because my existing one was toast and slipping horribly.

My mechanic did the swap and the transmission is working great. The only issue is, ever since I've done the swap, I can't go into M-mode.
I can use the paddles and the +/- on the gearstick just fine but M-mode isn't being engaged.

INPA gives me the code 5087. Additionally, when I put the gearstick into M-mode, the M-slot value in INPA changes. So it seems like the gear shifter is sending out the signal for M-mode. Just the transmission isn't engaging into M-mode.

I've checked the shifter cables under AT plate and they are fine. No cracks, bends, etc.

Could someone shed some light into this? Could it be I have to code my EGS to the car VIN?

Hello Guys i have a similar problem on my 328i 2007. i replaced my GM tranmission (automatic) with the same GM 6l45 transmission, but that transmission was taken from a 328i 2009 year model car. everything works great except the ds mode. it engages in DS mode and works fine for 40-50 seconds when i start the car and then it reverts itself in D mode, it does the same on each start. i changed my normal steering wheel with a paddle shifter one, because the 2009 328i had a paddle shifter, it did not fix. then i checked the wires in the shift assembly and all the wires seems okay, then i tried a new shift assembly from the 2009 328i model, still did not fix. I would really appreciate if anyone could help. i've been trying to fix this for 3 weeks already.

P.S sorry for non excellent english. Hope you can understand the situation.

My transmission after 182k miles finally decided to start slipping pretty bad, bye bye third gear. I'm picking up a used 6 speed automatic transmission tomorrow to replace it with. I pulled the codes from xHp.
