Engine oil after alphabet soup delete

I fully understand that BMW requires LL04 oil.
I was using Mobil 1 5W30 ESP.
Where ESP stands for Emission System Protection. It protects DPF and SCR catalytic.

Since i am going thru deletes i thought that no reason to protect my exhaust

Maybe there is a better option since we don't need to care about exhaust?
Maybe there is oil which will clean engine better or protect better?

PS
Also thinking to change transmission oil, is there a forum decision what is the best one? what filter is the best?

PSS
The warm weather is approaching and i will need a downpipe, i know about "The banned one" option, but it sounds a little bit price for me. Is there a cheaper option?

Some alphabet deleted people here are running Shell Rotella T6 since fowling the exhaust emissions equipment is no longer of concern. It is 5W-40 and fully synthetic.

I stuck with the ZF recommended fluid. Yes, it is expensive but spending an extra $78 on fluid is beans compared to another transmission. $20 per liter versus about $7 for my Dodge truck using 6 liters (13x6=78). The actual amount I used was 5.5 L. Many threads on transfluid changes. My advice is not to skimp and change out the pan so that you get a clean filter.

Bohl diesel pipe is one nice product. You get what you pay for!

+1 on T6. Great relatively cheap oil. Keeps engines really clean. Been using it in my e36 m3 for many years.

I have heard about T6, but never tried it. For some reason i was stick to Mobil1 and back on Honda times i was using Penzoil.

And with transmission oil i believe it needs to be changed at some period of time, as we can't drain all of it from torque converter and transmission.
So it is ZF branded fluid?

Bohl definitely is a nice product, but it is a little bit price, maybe one day i will get it but looking for cheaper options. As now i probably just drill out DPF from the top hole.

It looks like Rotella fans are in the forum
I was thinking about Mobil TDT as an option.

For my trans I am running Redline D6 with the recommended amount Lubegard Platinum additive in the transmission. I have changed it twice. Since then, I have noticed an improvement in the shifting smoothness over the OEM fluid. Fuel economy is the same. I like being able to change my fluid more frequently for the relatively low cost of $100 for 2 gallons.

According to the Redline oil web site "Using the appropriate Red Line product shouldn't invalidate your vehicle's warranty and question the mechanic or service manager that says so." Also from their web site a "popular application" for D6 is:

ZF Lifeguard 6 & 6 Plus - Shell M1375.4
('02 on 6 & 7 Series, '06 on 3, 5 Series and X5 with ZF 6 speed automatic BMW# 83 22 0 142 516, 83 22 0 144 137, 83 22 0 406 929, VW/AUDI # G 055 005, G 055 162 )
About oil here is a thing, to fit in the current eco regulations the manufactures have to go for some type of oil, it doesn't mean that the oil is better, often manufacturers have to use worse because they have to.

Redline D6 with Rotella T6 Easy to remember

I have used the ZF fluid for my transmission and Liquid Moly for the engine after switching from the BMW oil. I usually get my oil changed at BPC every 5,000 miles whenever my car is in there for whatever reason. I don't have the time or patience to wrench things myself.

I just got a check from Shell for $10. Rotella rebate running for $5 per gallon. The online version says they won't accept for purchases from Walmart. Guess what? I mailed it in and included Walmart receipt and they took it. I only mailed about 2 weeks ago. Posting from my phone but I have the pdf file for the form on my pc. Will post for the Rotella T6 folks. It worked out to 21.36-5=16.36 per gallon. Limit is 4 gallons ($20 total benefit)

Very nice lifehack
I might get like 4-5 gallons for 335d and my X5, anyway will have to change oil soon.

Also per walmart website Rottela is on rollback 21.36 per gallon.
So the deal might be to sweet to pass it.

Also i have to take out my dpf from the car

I use AMSOIL in motor/tranny and rear end fluid. That stuff is great in Motorsports. I actually use it in everything I own and doesn't seem to breakdown and turn color like mobil1 does.

I run Rotella T6 in both of my Diesel BMW's. 35D still has the DPF and I've logged 60k with T6 and Archoil 9100. X5 has 155k on the original DPF. After 155k I'm still getting great mpg 26-28mpg, which leads me to believe it's still functioning as designed.

T6 is a low ash oil and late model emission safe, to include DPF's.
