Fault code 4C2D

Before I go parts swapping, does anyone know the prescribed BMW test plan for this code? Despite resetting the DDE, this code always comes back. Thanks.

Sorry mate, Rheingold says "Throw a new air mass sensor at it".
Knowing you, you have probably tried cleaning it and resetting the adaptations, right?

Thanks for the detailed reply. I have cleaned it but have not been able to reset the adaptions. I hooked up my BavTechnic cable and can't get it to provide any activations or commands for the M57 dde.

Try selecting the DDE7 N57. Using that one let's me see and log all kinds of engine parameters, however it's not nearly as fast as TestO. I've used Bav Tech to reset error codes and reset adaptations. I've also had to replace my MAF...

Thanks guys. DDE7 for N57 worked. I reset the adaptions and will try it out on a drive tomorrow. If that doesn't work sounds like a new MAF will be ordered soon.

I dont know what bmw interface tools you are running Rhiengold, inpa etc.
but what ever you are running I would perhaps if you can see the signal of the maf, and check for a lazy sensor. A few throttle snaps and see what the voltage signal does,is it quick or slow. Dont know the refresh rate on the d but most maf's react to subtle changes pretty quickly.

Thanks for promoting TestO! I usually get 12-13 samples per second (around 10 data points) with my car's DDE 7.1 .

P.S. Some display calibration issues on my Win8.1 Tablet on the video. It seemed almost impossible to resize a window ...

To wrap up this post, a new MAF fixed it. The car feels more lively and drivable now at low load/rpms. Before the new MAF it felt bogged down in low rpms almost like the small turbo was asleep.

I ordered the Bosch part from FCP. $180. It arrived next day. Adaptions were reset with theBavTechnic cable.

Interestingly the faulty part I removed was also a Bosch, not the genuine bmw. Odd since my car has been under CPO warranty until recently and I bought it with 40k miles on it.

Bosch does make the OEM HFM. When these fail the measured air mass usually is higher than actual which leads to higher EGR rates. Guess the rest...
