Me too. Headline in Car Magazine - "Nissan Crushes the Germans". In Harris's video, why were the M3's brakes totally shot after one lap!? No explanation given for that one...

I've just cancelled my deposit on the GT-R with Middlehurst as i was around the 55 person on their list and i just coundnt see myself getting one in 2009. I've swapped to another dealer that should be getting the GT-R and im sitting at number 12 on their list.
The Gt-R has stuffed the establishment. If you go on 6 speed forum in the Porsche 997 Turbo section there is a long thread with upset owner's about the GT-R . The fact is that its a good £10000/£15000 cheaper than a specced up 997S let alone the Turbo!
The M3/C63 have no chance in performance terms and if you were lucky enough to get an early deposit on a GT-R then depreciation will only be very very mild for the first couple of years. A £56000 M3 will lose around £18000 in it's first year and thats even before the GT-R touches our shores.

It's game over

The only problem with the GTR (and a 911 turbo for that matter) is when driving around where the hell do you park it. it's one of those cars that you'll be continuously worried about leaving anywhere

Nissan UK have been writing to grey import companies and threatened them with legal action if they bring in GT-R's to sell on to individuals. They say the importers are breaching their (Nissan UK's) trade mark rights. Therefore according to this weeks Autocar you might have to go down the personal import route if you want a vehicle early.

It will be interesting to see if Porche remains the most profitable car company per unit sale! Lets be thankful for a bit of competition at last.

Even though i have a deposit down on a GT-R i would be seriously tempted with a used GT3 again. I don't give a rats arse that the GT-R is faster , the GT3 is an amazing car to drive with a soundtrack to die for and plenty fast enough. If i can get hold of a mint/low mileage Gt3 for £60000/£65000 i would pick it over the GT-R anyday.

Fingers crossed.

Strange selection of cars, 4wd against 2wd, £53k against £80k 4 seater everyday car, or 2 seater track day blaster

I have a 335D touring for everyday and an Ariel Atom for the track. I just want a car that can do the sports thing with a roof for either long distance journeys or when its cold. I'm not bothered really if its 4wd over 2wd, though i generally prefer rear wd.
The 997 GT3 ( which i've owned already ) is not just a track version Porsche. It's fantastic for road use and as comfortable on the road as my previos 997s bar speed bumps.
The 997 GT3 is without doubt the best all-round performance car i have ever driven.
But taking into account a new well specced Gt3 would set you back £87000+ against a GT-r at £56000 i'm not sure its worth the extra £30000. Personally i'd go for a Crate/Lotus or Atom with the £30000 spare and have a GT-R for everyday.

The problem comes when the GT3 gets to £60000/£65000 . Its a very very special car.

He said it was very very good. Probably more fun on the road than the track though, with split personality handling. Excellent through slower tighter bends when the back flies out nicely, but frustratingly biased toward understeer in faster corners.

He then admitted that he felt bad complaining because it was a superb car.
