I am considering these tires as my next set to replace some PS2s. I have stock 193M wheels, are you all sizing up when buying these?
In standard dimensions 225/255, they are a steal at $400 for a set. When I size up to 235/265 they go up to $580. What are your thoughts and recommendations? |

If you get the correct aspect ratios (45/40) of course they are, why wouldn't they be?

How is the sidewall?
Currently run Continental ExtremeContact DW. Tirerack is out of stock for my size, Like the reviews and the price of the Firehawks. Any feedback on the sidewall, is it mushy?

I've had Continental DW in the past and basically any other performance tire will have a much stiffer sidewall and better turn-in response.
These Indy 500s are a great cheap tire especially for dual purpose street/autocross use. Another cheap one worth looking at is the Kumho PS91 which according to Tire Rack tests probably isn't as good for autocross but is a bit better rain tire. Indy 500 is definitely getting much more hype than PS91 though. |

So I just wanted to give my thoughts on my rear tires. I only purchased the rear since they were worn out and I have Michelin PS2 in the front. They have great traction (better than my Bridgestone RE760 I had all around).
I had gone on a BMW Car Club of America Blue Bonnet Drive this weekend. It was a club activity to run the back roads of Texas in search of Blue Bonnets. There were 2 groups, one to run the roads without stopping and one to stop and take pictures. Some of the roads were barely wide enough for 2 cars and super twisty. The leader of the group had a 135i that was very capable and had a lot of suspension work and the F30 brake upgrade. The president of the Houston chapter of BMW CCA had a 530i which if I remember correctly, had a supercharger from ESS tuning. I was either behind the leader or behind them both. They ran these back roads like something you would see on Top Gear. With my 335i, being basically stock, the tire combo had me very impressed with the grip and handling. The front has great response and the rear felt compliant with tremendous grip. (Tire combo, front Michelin PS2 225/35/19, rear Firestone Indy 500 275/30/19) I have a new respect for these cheap new-comers that are called Firestone Indy 500! Here are some pics.

Just purchased a set of these in 255/18/45. The tires are much wider than any other 255 I've seen as well as taller. I believe this has to do with the shoulders on the tires.
I wanted a good gripping tire while obtaining the meatier look. I got all of that plus some with these tires. They complete fill the wheel well and actually touch the fender liners enough to scrub a small bit off of them. The rears are almost flush with the body and the fronts barely tuck. According to other information that I have read, I should have been able to get a 275 tire on the back but there is no way that could have been possible with this tire without a fender roll. |

I've had these in 235/35/19 and 275/30/19 for about two weeks, and so far I have nothing but positive feedback.. They grip awesome, rain traction is superb, and road noise is very minimal..

More like 4.8% since it reads true with a 25.7" tire but yeah.

Correct but the shoulder in comparison to other 45's is MUCH taller due to how the shoulders are made. Its a much larger shoulder than I've ever seen on any other tire outside of a slick.

The wheels are Apex Arc-8 18x9 ET30 squared. Only have one bad cell phone pic until I have it detailed this weekend. |

You're saying it's a squared off shoulder instead of rounded one like a lot of tires?

If you look at this pic you can see a line where the sidewall stops then the shoulders round up and add height above that sidewall line. The added height is almost half the size of the sidewall. lol |
