My guess would be a new higher spec head unit like 99prs as the next system upgrade!

sir James, you are a genious.

P99RS is next in the pipeline. It cost more than £1000 to buy here in UK.
I am trying to get one from Italy to save £150-180.

Benefits:
-4 DACS (1 for each set of frequency, highs, mid, mid low, lows).
-Can read digital files from iphone / ipod and uses its own DACs, whereas all other HU use apple's DAC. Theoratically, it should give me advantage over other HUs.
-L and R separate 31 band equiliser
- Many others

There are few threads which compared P88RS to P99RS and these V/S bit one. The conclusion was P99RS less noisy and better DSP within its limitations.

Here is a link on Pioneer stage 4 sound system and if you click on P99RS, it tells you what this HU (pre-amp) can do.

EDIT to add links:
Here are few intersting topics to read.

Audison bit one or P99RS
Pioneer P99RS, Pioneer DEH-P9, and Pioneer 800PRS Testing
Alpine H800 vs. H701 vs. Audison Bitone.1 Technical Comparison

Few updates on under seat mid bass drivers.
I have compared few underseats and they were out soon.

I'm back to SWS-8.

Going to try Morels during stage 4 (last stage).

Stage 4 consist of
1- Dex- P99RS
2- Morel 9 inch underseats (which can take 200W each).

Here is a quick comparison of the two drivers I'm considering;

Left column is Elate 9 and right column is ADMW SW9

I am inclided toward Elate 9 woofer and reasons are;
a) 1 dB more sensitive (may not be significant for many)
b) Resonance frquency is 38Hz
c) Q/T 0.59 which is less than ADMW SW9
d) VAS is 40L which is less than ADMW SW9

The only benefit ADMW has better xmax (8.5mm) over Elate 9's xmax (4.75mm).

Any suggestions guys?

Sounds good but how will it integrate with all the systems in the car?

Ian,
Its
- CD players / FM player/ reads ipod files digitally
- Pre-amp
- DSP
all in one box solution so no additional DSP box in the boot.

So it will be getting fitted where HU sits (I do not have sat nav and hence gone down the aftermarket HU).

4 different pairs of RCA cables will go to three different amps and to the components. It is competition level HU, so lets hope it does what it is supposed to do.

Is your sound system fitted and running?

Sounds amazing, but I'm definitely gonna keep my hands in my pockets this time

It's still a work in progress but the basic system is up & running, I had a MoBridge iPod unit installed but that caused loads of problems so the car's going back yet again on Wednesday to have a Dension 500s fitted, fingers crossed it works this time.

I've help off commenting on the new system so far because I wasn't all that impressed with the results of the Gladen install when it first went in, it just didn’t seem all that much better, especially considering the £££s I’s spent, so I wanted to give it time to settle & get the install completed before saying anything, but it’s improving leaps and bounds as I use it, I guess it has to bed in and loosen up. Although I’ve installed new sound gear in every car I’ve had, I’m nowhere near an expert in I.C.E. & the BMW is the first car I haven’t done it all myself, in fact I’m dubious about doing anything more complicated than changing a fuse , but going back to the Gladen install: on first install the most disappointing thing was the tweeters, they just didn’t seem to be picking anything out of the music, they seemed flat. I’m not sure how many hours I’ve used it since, probably 50 or 60 (I don’t use the car every day) & it’s matured considerably and seems to be improving all the time. The under seat base units are very good considering the size & depth and although they may not rattle the windows like the 12” stealth box / Alpine amp in my last car, they certainly add a lot of depth to music, in fact they definitely need the ashtray base controller because there can be far too much bass on some tracks. Hopefully, if the Dension works properly, I’ll spend more time listening to the iPod & mp3s rather than the radio and I’ll have some control of what I listen to, better quality in means better quality out so I’ll have a better idea of what the system is capable of, maybe I’ll start playing with the dsp then too!

Double the xmaxx almost so that's going to OWN the other for bass output and overall SPL, but you have a W7 for that. So from your underseat you want quality midbass as you'll be equalising or high passing the sub out anyway.

It's a tough decision!

Have you also considering the Hertz HSK 165XL midbass? I forget the product code of specifically the midbass but it's a beast. I'll let you hear it for sure sometime ..

What issue you have had with MoBridge? I read few negative feedback on American website long time ago but never heard from UK members.

I have German components. Woofers were brilliant but tweeters were let down. Lets see if your speakers sound better after they break-in.

Surely, with better sound tracks, you'll be able to make more critical analysis.
You have amp with DSP, so thats another toy to play with to get most out of it.
Looking forward to hear your comprehensive review on Gladen and mosconi amp, as many others are waiting to hear some feedback on these.

Yup 4K is sweet. Few people recommended to go for 3K, but then male vocals start getting from mid and tweeters and SQ get disturbed IMO.

One of the reason I loved SWS-8 as they play the bass very low. When my kids are in the car, W7 is off and with slight tweeking SWS-8 compensate the lack of lower bass.

Morels are considered as top class (in terms of SQ) and hence going for these. Considering their specs, Elates are better for smaller spaces and hence I selected them.

I have looked at Hertz midbass as well, but 6.5 Vs 9....no brainer mate.

I honestly thought I wouldn't need a sub with the midbasses really playing, until I fitted my sub. Now it's always on !!!

But I have less practical requirements than you I expect. For example I dont need my boot

The guy that fitted my system is working on a compact sub & box made to fit in the hole in the boot floor, he's going to install a pre-production model in my e90 when he has one available so I can try it for a while - it sounds interesting, I'll report back when I know more

I have done this. I bought a box from a guy on eBay. Sounds great. Very tight controlled bass. I had to raise my floor mind you to keep a stealth look. I would suggest bearing in mind subwoofer has to mount and room is left for excursion about 2 inches needed. As for a sub I suggest the diamond dual voice coil 4ohm subwoofer which I can confirm works very well in this location and in a small enclosure. Rated to 400w rms

I am talking from the experience and considering physics + boot of E90. You should ask your installer to spend his time on the corner enclosure.
After taking out the battery cover, there is enough space to get a decent custom made corner enclosure which can accomodate 10 inch sub. IMHO, that is going to be far superior in terms of sound quality than making a floor sub box.

That's good advice, I had a similar stealth box in a previous car with 12" sub & the results were great, I'll pass it on & bear it in mind when he tries to sell me one
