Calling anyone who has swapped out e92 kidneys

So I was over at bimmerfest and I came across a very interesting thread. There is a member that had his tint guy wrap his OEM chrome kindney surrounds in gloss vinyl while leaving the vertical slats chrome. This effectively looks like the 335is grill that will be coming out. So here is my question for anyone who has swapped or removed their e92 kindney grilles. Is there anyway that the surrounds can be removed from the grille itself or is the grille one solid peice. I was thinking that if the sorrounds could be removed, then all I would need to do is use the performance high gloss grille surrounds on the chrome OEM grilles. Feedback is greatly appreciated.

Here is the link to the post on bimmerfest I was refering to

I believe they are just one piece but I'll have to check when I get back home.

the OEM grills are 2 piece.

I could take the black surrounds from my performance grills and easily snap in the chrome slats from the stocks.

Thats good news. So you basically have the 335is grilles then?

Thats why I want to avoid wrapping them and just snap in the Gloss black performance sorrounds on my OEM chrome grilles.

beskone,

So you think that you could do a mini write up on how to do this as I think some people could find this a useful alternative to just gloss black, matte black, cf, etc. grilles.
