Nop. Won't execute purchase for another month. Just to be clear, you're gonna need approx 600 bucks or more in additional parts for install and it's not a simple plug and play. Some guys are having second thoughts cause they scared haha
Still want in? |

Yeah still pretty keen. I am leaving for Europe at the end of the month but will be back by the 23rd of May. So what is the total damage excluding the extra parts

I believe with NBT the combox is already built-in, rather than a separate unit altogether? I'm still such a newbie with all this stuff. The scariness of this install definitely put me off haha. Might just stick with a CIC retrofit with combox instead.

1700 AUD plus about 35 to 50 shipping depending on numbers. Already coded to your VIN and all options coded too, like BT streaming, latest maps, dynamic parking line assist. BimmerRetrofit want about $3000 AUD

I have an 2008 135i with CCC, navigation, BT, handsfree, USB/aux.
Would it be possible to get in on this including the touch controller. I am assuming the panelling would be significantly different and maybe not feasible to be part of a group buy with E9x but no harm in asking. |

1 series fitment to NBT: - CCC Headunit cage is compatible, centre console is compatible, just need a new console and controller trim. Screen is a PITA as the dash has a huge cutout. The CIC screen is horrendously expensive, would suck to pay $1k for a screen which you have to cut into just to fit an NBT display - M-ASK (Business nav mid 2008+) This has the same controller and faceplate as CIC so thats less parts to buy. Can use the controller if you couldnt be stuffed with getting touchpad. Same problem as CCC with the screen. - CIC Would need to cut your stock screen, not great since it costs an arm and a leg, hurts your resale of your stock unit to offset the cost of NBT too. - No screen, no storage bin Need a new centre console to lose the cupholder and gain a controller. Headunit cage is actually different, either need a new cage or trim your dash to make it mountable. You have a virgin dash and can just do a cutout for the F30 screen and it'll look pretty seamless. - No nav, dash has storage bin included Worst combination, need to do all the work of centre console but has a huge cutout in the dash, making it just as bad as CCC to get a screen in. I was thinking it might be possible to buy the nav storage bin, cut into that and mount the F30 screen directly to it depending on how everything fits up. If threes enough flat space on the bin to do a nice cutout for the screen, that would be perfect. Otherwise buying a 2nd hand virgin dash might be the cheapest solution, theyre usually not that expensive cos no one wants them! Just a lot of hours in getting it swapped out.

I could probably buy the storage bin (it is the most flat and its cheap) then bog it, sand it and blend it. This would make make it so the lid doesnt open and is basically a blanking plate for where the screen used to go. Then do a cutout and mount for the F30 screen. Then prime and paint it. I have done something similar before with my M3 microfilter cowl to get it to fit a 1 series but it was a ton of work sanding and smoothing (took me 2 full days over my Christmas holidays). Also painting matte paint is a little bit tricky to get perfect as well, Wrap would probably be the safer option. Apart from the E82 screen, nothing else about the install looks difficult to me.

Ahh OK, I'm guessing it could be easy to glue some tabs that overlap the console trim and controller? I need to get a controller in my hands to work something out...
