BMW N52 resonator and muffler delete drone solution suggestions

Hey everyone,
I'm pretty new here (this is my first post), but I'm asking for suggestions on some way to greatly reduced drone from a muffler and resonator delete on the N52.

I have a muffler delete right now but I plan on doing the resonator delete soon. So I'm asking for suggestions from people who have done this delete and have attempted to fix the drone.

2007 328xi (E92)
Thank you!

Maybe just add in a Flowmaster or something similar?

I'm confused as to why you want to delete the resonator and then add something to reduce drone. Your biggest tool against drone is going to be the resonator and muffler for that matter.

Well I like the pops and burbles that come with the muffler delete, and these will increase with a resonator delete. I'm trying to get more of that sound and volume but keep the drone to a minimum if that makes sense.

I don't know though if those goals are both achievable at the same time though.

No

Really the resonator delete is extremely poor choice of mods on these cars. You are only going to gain rasp without it.

Best cure for drone with an aggressive exhaust I’ve found is the AA muffler with the helmholtz chamber which kills all the drone from like 2000-3000rpms.

Don't delete, just replace. Nothing to be gained anywhere for any amount to appreciate even by butt Dyno. Just do DISA intake, header and tune.

Has anyone replaced the resonator with a vibrant?

Yeah I get what you're saying. Mine drives me crazy after a few days of driving but that sounds much worse. I looked at other threads and have decided to get a resonator delete and a magnaflow muffler. It sounds cool and I'm assuming one muffler should take care of the drone...

Is this the AA gen 2 exhaust with the muffler or the first one which was basically just a straight pipe with the helmholtz chamber?

i have AA headers, secondary cat delete, BMW performance exhaust with a vibrant ultra quiet welded in where the stock res would usually be. I love it. Go vibrant if you are going to put anything in place of the stock res or muffler.

HH pipes actually work to eliminate drone. Have it on my other car. Drone frequencies like to get trapped in the car cabin. HH pipes will get rid of them while keeping other frequencies.
BUT it must be tuned. They have a bell curve effect on specific frequency and near by frequencies

I'd go with what BigInBoca has mentioned.. keep your res and go section 1.. or get a good muffler. I personally have the AA catback for the 128i and it's glorious.. coupled with AA headers.

Still trying to decide on those SS straight pipes....

Can def say AA exhaust is king for our cars as the BMW PE harder and harder to come by

Edit: bought the pipes on sale

I’m thinking about getting a muffler delete done to my 328xi and was wondering if it was too loud for daily driving and if there was an annoying amount of drone that came along with it? I plan on keeping my resonator.

I ran one for a year and a half. It's not bad but theres obvious reasons I didn't keep it
