Why the hell would you do that? If you have the holder you might as well put a real plate on it. Is the MW plate particularly pretty or something?

if new jersey doesnt require a front plate; then you are fine. i know some people form out of state have front window tints and out of state plates and get away without getting tickets for it.

So if I can summarize the worst that can happen without the front plate is a ticket for 50$, do I get this right??, how about if you get a few of them over a short time period, any escalation or you are okay if you keep paying them ?
Mine is in the trunk right now Cheers

Yep. It is no biggie. I was caught once when i lived downtown. Idiot. I parked at Circus, out front, with the E55, and no front plate. When I returned, ticket. I have not had a front plate for ages.
In massachusetts, you have a yearly inspection, and the front plate is a deal-breaker. I just zip-tie it to the front. Last time, the guy was so nice to remove it for me after the inspection, too. |

sorry to bring up a thread from the past, but got my first "no front plate" ticket today in Rolling Meadows.
According to the cop, I have to come to Court with a pic of the car showing that the front plate is mounted. If this is done, the ticket is dropped. Sounds pretty easy (almost too easy). Anyone else deal with something like this? |

Got mine a week after taking it off on the kennedy, I was stopped for other reasons but he tacked the plate violation on. Put the plate back on for now since I'll be on supervision for a while...

Why give law enforcement an excuse to mess with you. Just put the damn plate on. And why would you put your car and life on the line by going into the city anyway? Even the cops are not safe there. I worked in the city for 41 years and haven't gone back there since I retired 7 years ago.

It has been a year and a half since I last posted, the car is parked outside 50% of the time in Evanston on the street in front of my house (across from the hospital, parking nannies troll the area regualrly). have not received a ticket for the plate.
I went to the Starbucks tonight, and there was an e90 M3 with the holder that holds the plate below the passenger side. Looks pretty idiotic, makes the plate stick out significantly further out from the car. Might as put the Buick vents on the fender. I am picking up a new Volvo XC90 next week, and I told them not to install front plate. |

What you're referring to is the platemount that utilizes the towhook...better than drilling holes in a new bumper IMO

Still looks ridiculous. Perhaps it was just the fact that it sits so far off of the bumper. Along those lines of things that miss when put into practice: brake dust shields on my car to keep the rims clean: And keep my couch from getting damaged: |

Still have Wisco plates so they can't mess with me...just have to be careful going up to WI, but they are far less likely to ticket.
Funny how Chicago cops troll airport parking lots looking for low hanging fruit, but let all the other BS go. I can just picture them waddling around the parking ramp. Mmmm Hmmm, we gots another one. |
