Transmission Overheating?
Greetings All! I was parking my car this afternoon and I heard the fan working extra hard. I turn the car off and then a few minutes come back, turn it on and begin to drive and the fan is again working extremely hard! I then get a transmission too hot sign. Im like WTF? its 30 degrees out and I had only driven the car for about 10 minutes for the whole day. The transmission is not shifting smoothly. Any ideas as to what could be causing this? Thanks for your feedback!

I wouldn't drive it at all.... not enaugh oil in the tranny is serious stuff...metal particules can block something which will require to take it apart and that's big $....
Doesn't BMW have free road side assisstance ? I will inquire... Still have warranty ?

I would start by asking your dealer what they want you to do. If the transmission is noticeably acting up, they will probably send a tow truck.

I have 2011 323i with about 160k kms on it with same issue, I have changed the transmission oil but still its shows transmission overheating when am in heavy traffic. I have checked the transmission oil type too and am sure it’s the right one ie dexron vi/ ZF lifeguard 8. Could it be the water pump?
