Wheel messed up
Had my car in for 4 wheel alignment and 2 new front tyres fitted.
Cost me £140. Just got home and looked at the front wheels. Near side front has paint chipped off it in 2 places. Firstly near a curbed part. I curbed it but the paint was intact. Secondly just in the middle of the alloy rim. The paint hadn't chipped off like this when I left it with them but obviously I can't prove it. What should I do? Go back and point it out to them on monday?

More importantly I would love to know where you can get 2 new tyres and a 4 wheel alignment for £140

original post didnt make that clear, as for damage, they will claim no knowledge, they always do. How long ago was this?

Yesterday. Picked the car up at 4pm. Never looked at the alloys. Never assumed they'd be damaged.

Have the wheels been repainted because it look to me like there are multiple layers of silver paint and the outer layer isn't keyed very well and is peeling off?

Defo a respray without primer. The standard BMW primer under the wheel paint is white.
As they havent keyed the previous paint or applied a new primer coat the top coat will be very fragile. Don't think you can blame the fitters doing the alignment really. |

My wife's X5 needed a puncture repair and a few local places wouldn't do it/said they couldn't do it without damaging the wheels. I went to my usual place (KP Tyres) and they did it for me without damaging anything. That's why it's the only place I use, and I get the tyres from them as they're within literally a few quid of buying online, and I'd rather travel a while and give my business to a place that are meticulously careful when requested and that don't fuck my wheels up. |

I've left it for now. Might go for a colour change.

I think that would only happen to repainted wheels.
Sadly you have no leg to stand on unless you can prove it... it is always best to go around the vehicle with the person you will be dealing with... so they can mark out/record any damage on a sheet... and you get a copy of this sheet. Then they cannot dispute it. All of my wheels are intact and when I have gone around the vehicle I have pointed out to several people that none of the wheels have any chips, scuffs or curb damage... You don't ask you don't get... you can point it out to them and see what they say. |

tyre fitters are often careless gorrillas who don't give a shit, it pays to check before and after so they know you know what state your rims are in.
IMO when you find a good tyre place stick with em even if a little more expensive, not worth the agro and arguments if/when things like this happen. |
