2006 325i E90 TRANSMISSION
Does anyone out there have a reference I can use to determine the type of transmission I have based on my VIN?. I'm suspecting 6HP26...
I'm getting the infamous bump between 2-1 gears although I change my oil and seals. I did not reset any adaptations because I did not find any readings indicating that I needed to do that after an oil change and seals replacement. That said, since I've driven the car for a few miles, less than 100 miles or so, and I'm still getting that bump as a slow to a stop, I'm suspecting the solenoids need replacing. So my quest is to find the proper solenoids. I use lifeguard-6 oil and all ZF brand products to keep it OEM. Anyone with that reference or link to a reference would be greatly appreciated... |

FCP Euro sells the transmission service kit with solenoids for your car. You should have ZF 6HP19, that's what came in the US and that's what FCP Euro will tell you. You can also verify this with RealOEM

Also make sure you have enough fluid and followed the proper fill procedure. This includes filling the transmission while the engine is running, something I see most people overlook.

6HP19 is the first generation lower torque version; 6HP21 is the 2nd generation of the same.
The CTSC has three different solenoid sets. Make sure someone did not stick a different transmission in there before. There is one E-shift solenoid set and two M-shift sets. Make sure you get the correct one. Crawl under and take a picture of the identification plate and compare to the list in the sets: https://www.thectsc.com/catalog/6-sp...-kits-115.html Maybe yours uses the M-Shift solenoid set: 1068 298 044 01 $265 https://www.thectsc.com/products/sol...ft-36-115.html And you can get a filter pan and OEM fluid from them too. Make sure your transmission Main Parts Number is one of: |

Solenoids fixed my 325i 2-1 bump 5 years ago. Still good as new. All 2006 E90 in North America got ZF transmissions. Adaptions won't fix that issue so don't even bother as it can dull the issues temporarily and it will come back.
