My puppy

So the missus finally persuaded me to buy a dog. We picked him up yesterday, a 24 week old Alsatian. He's so amusing, just wants to play, sleep & eat. Should have done this ages ago.
Not to keen on his name though previous owner named him Francie, maybes I'll start calling him Frankie see if he notices.
Hope he doesn't turn out to need as much maintenance as a 335

Very Nice

Now go get some Pet Insurance and get his back half checked over,,,,,, they do suffer from hip problems

lovely GS though, I had 4, all Security Guard Dog's several years ago.... Mans Best Friend and as soon as you put a lead on, Mans best protector. If he is growing up with kids, that's even better.

I have a Boxer now and thinking of rescuing another.....

Cheers Steve,
Am sorting insurance this week.
Yes I'm aware of issues with hind legs, we only got him as someone we know bought him about a month ago & then decided they didn't want him. An Alsatian wouldn't have been my first choice of dog but as we'd meet him a couple of times & was told he was no longer wanted we decided we would give him a home.
He is very well behaved & he's already learnt not to shit on my fake grass.

The only downside I am seeing of dog ownership is I will be using the car even less.
We usually go for a drive somewhere nice in the car at the weekend, I normally don't use the car during the week.
This weekend I've had to use the transit so we can take the dog & the cars just sat in my garage all weekend

Congratulations on becoming a furball owner. I've been a furball daddy for nearly a year now, after rescuing a female Rotty. Best £150 I have - and will ever - spend. The unconditional love dogs have for you, and the fact that they'd die rather than willingly upset you, makes it so so special.

Yeah she costs me money each month, but it's money I'll happily pay.

First visit to the vet since we've had him yesterday for his tick treatment. We decided we'd take him to the same vet his previous owners had taken him to.
Whilst he was there the missus asked if they could clip his claws, as the vet was clipping them she asked him a few questions about type of food, clipping his nails ourselves, exercising just general questions. She also mentions a limp that he occasionally has & it turns out he has an existing problem with his right shoulder.
Apparently he will most likely has shoulder dysplacia & there's a good chance he will have arthritis by the time he's 4/5 years old.
The vet recommend we bring him back in 3 months for X-rays. He also said there's a operation he can have if it becomes necessary but it will be very expensive.
He also suggested giving him a steroid injection.
So the bill...£94
Clip nails £15, have now bought some dog nail clippers.
Tick treatment £13
Steroid injection £16, all reasonable costs so far but then we get charged a consultation fee of £50 for the questions she asked him while he was having his claws clipped we won't be taking him back there.

Did a bit of research last night & am going give him calcium supplements & regulate his exercise & just see how he gets on.

Jesus. That is cheeky AF. I'd be tempted to leave them a negative Google review for that.

Think you'd have got the £50 anyway. It's a bit like your diagnostic charge at BMW.
We've just had two skin tags removed from our Rottie. £570.

I suspect you don't find many poor vets.

How's life with the M3?

Definitely not! Must be very lucrative.

Funnily enough, other than its thirst, life with the M3 has been pretty easy so far. It's not put a foot wrong yet. *touch wood*

Sort out some good insurance that pay for life time illnesses and be careful as some will only pay out once per condition, as with something like bone injury it can be reoccurring so best to check.
I pay about £20 a month with Royal Mail if I recall.... better safe then sorry, never used it!
Beautiful dog, enjoy it!
