!Most block help needed, active block full?
Hey guys
I am adding satellite, and have done the receiver part. I pulled the side panel on my e93 today and am puzzled. It seems like what I understand as the active block, the bottom block, is full, all 5 spots. The docs from BMW speak of: Remove the satellite receiver (SDARS) fiber optic cables (1 & 2) from Position 4 of the upper black junction block X14280 with the aid of a small flat head screwdriver. My position 4 is empty, my upper has only cables in positions 2 and 3. I know I can undo the top block and use the flashlight method to locate which of the positions holds my sat, but I guess maybe I have to lose the HD radio? The car is pretty loaded otherwise... any thoughts?

ok, did the flashlight trick to locate the satellite line and it's #3 on the top (unused) block. I was hoping it was one of the 5 on the bottom block.
I hate leaving my car apart Anyone able to comment? I really don't need HD radio, I am tempted to deaden it and put it out to pasture on the top block.

Block is just a holding point.
Block is just a holding point,
For two cables to point at each other. It looks like it would be easy to make something that would do that for an extra cable pair. Also if you don't have a cdc ( cd changer) an its got prewiring is that taking up any space on the block. Look for unhooked optic cables in the amp area and trace them back. Thanks Ctuna, that helps. So if I use the second block as part of the loop, I guess I can take what was the final out on the live block, pin #5, and swap that with the out from my sat tuner on the "dead" block" Would that make sense to loop it in?

You need to complete the loop.
You need to complete the loop.
I have never looked at block other than in pictures Since it's a loop just add in and complete. If your car is prewired the way everything on an before 09 is I would trace the cassette changer wiring from the trunk and see what you can do with that slot if ends in a slot. You could tape ends together to test the circuit I think. Maybe use a cut down plastic straw for a guide. Also there has to be power to the module for it to complete the loop. And I don't know what you have to do to bring activate the subscription. There could be coding that needs to be done to the car also to add it in. Last edited by ctuna; 03-23-2014 at 09:03 PM.. |
