Yeah that's kinda why I'm leaning more towards a muffler delete or something. I'd love the stock look of the PE mod but I don't want anything like that to happen. Let us know if you figure it out.

E91 converted N54 PE mod. Everything was aces and fit nicely except damn evap canister was a pain. This exhaust is so different from N52 PE, way deeper and more gurgles. Love it!

So has anyone ever opened up a PE or 335is muffler for comparison? I skipped through 85 pages but haven't seen it.

If for some reason they aren't, they are remarkably similar in tone. Nice thing is the IS muffler retains the valve, so it can be made mildly quieter than a PE system if needed.

335is is definitely quieter compared to the PE even with the valves unplugged.

Only thing is you have to bring him the mufflers off the car with the canisters uncut. I unfortunately did not know this and brought them cut and he told me would do it for $500 still but he would rather cut them himself as has done the mod plenty of times and knows what to expect.

Please don't pay $500 for this mod. You could go and spend $600 on an actual OEM PE exhaust off these forums. This shouldn't cost more than $200-$300 at a local muffler shop. And even then it is on the high side IMO.

Agreed, I paid $250 a few years ago and that included having 4 inch tips that I provided getting welded on.

I would get a piece of straight pipe, cut it along to alter its diameter, and slip it into the muffler plus weld it to secure it from traveling around in case the friction may not be enough to hold it in place?

Sorry I'm hardly on this anymore but i have 2-3 muffler I'm planning to do the pe mod on and wanting to see who else would be interested in buying it. Again I'm located in queens ny.
