Charging via engine bay while locked

Hi. I tried to search for this, but havent found a single post about this. I never needed to charge battery in my E90 until this winter when I received an error "increased battery discharge" for the first time. I can plug my car via ports in engine bay while Im at work. The only problem is that I park my car in our underground parking lot, which is shared with all employees.

My question is if I can charge the car while the car is locked and alarm triggered, or I need the car to be unlocked for the battery to be charged via engine bay. Thanks a lot for answers.

Not trying to hijack this thread, but is there any way for us to trickle charge using one of the 12V ports inside the vehicle using a solar maintainer?
