I've tried to flash the DSC with ISTA, NCS and Protool. Nothing works. And it doesn't Target P when you select P. Every selection gives the wrong target but the actual gear is always 3rd. Is 4 and 6 cyl the only difference between different DSC modules? They must have given me a 4cyl DSC.

There seems to be quite a few different versions of DSC. 6 cyl, 4 cyl, then there's the whole LDM non LDM thing from early cars.
Have you tried flashing it with WINKFP? NCS expert only does coding, not flashing/programming.

The trouble is, the part numbers on the DSC hydro unit and the DSC ecu never match what comes up in the parts catalog so it's impossible to tell which is the right unit.

The only way i see out of it is to go to a reputable wrecker that knows BMWs and get one that has definitely come from a 335i. Most of them will just say "yeah it fits your car, she'll be right mate" but they have no fucking clue.

Of those programs you mention, only ISTA (P) can flash a module. Make sure you've understood the difference between programming/flashing and coding.

As above, try winkfp. And if that doesn't work, double down on getting the correct and working part. Also make sure your battery is at a decent voltage/charge - low battery can cause issues with flashing and with everything else electronic.

Yeah and the DSC is the most likely one to give trouble when flashing if the battery gets low. Also have some screen wash or water on hand as the wipers will be going like crazy, during flashing.

Ha, I've not had that one happen before

Can't you just put them in the service position (or whatever you call it) for the duration?

WINKFP can't flash it either no matter which DSC file I try to use. The error is always "Error 105 Error on determining the current assembly identification number". Battery is brand new, fully charged and always on trickle charge. All the battery wiring, voltage regulator etc is brand new too. Safe to say it's 100% the wrong module or just faulty. The ZB number is 6778164. When I unplug it, the car stops acting crazy (apart from the transmission)

If anyone has any information on which version DSC I should have (2006-10 RHD E90 335i EUR/JAP) or how to tell the different modules apart by part number that would be greatly appreciated

Don't take this as gospel but putting part number you have into google brings up modules from 1 series, 3 series but always a 4 cyl engine.

I have this module hanging around that I bought for my car and the first thing I see different is the orientation of the text on the control unit.

See pictures. That may be a useful identification of 4/6 cylinder.

There are exchange part numbers that technically supersede each of those, but I'd guess the original part nos will be easier to find. What are the numbers on the original unit?
These are the part numbers which correspond to your vin. I assume you've searched for them already? Do you still have the original unit from the car?

Parts 1 (complete unit with abs pump) or 2 (DSC module only):

Yes I've searched for those already thank you. I don't have the original unit. I am trying to find a way to see if any other part numbers not listed on RealOEM would work, perhaps from a different 6cyl e9x or e8x

Just done some poking about. Consensus from every used part I've seen is that 6cyl all use the same part (different from 4cyl), as AS has already mentioned. Doesn't seem to be any special units for 335i.

Maybe try 3452 6776069 (DSC only) or 3451 6776068 (complete abs unit)? Those numbers would be paired on a complete unit (6776068's DSC module would be 6776069).

Does this help?
