Ambient door light
hi guys,
ive been searching around the forum for an answer to my question and looking at the images most of the e92 ive seen have the interior door light just above the handle. got the e92 2007 330d without it. just wondering is it possible to install it or not, and do you know where i can get this part? |

Well E92 is a coupe.
I just had to fix mine few weeks ago (broke fiber light guide), I don't think there's way to retrofit one. That little panel is mounted with plastic studs which are melted. |

Oh yeah, definitely would be a more expensive option, but probably much easier to do and easier to find parts. I don't know that you'll find a donor car willing to give up the light strip without the rest of the door panel. Hey, it's just an option to keep in mind

for everyone who is interested, i think i found what i was looking for right here, on number 3. seems it goes on as a clip-on but still need to check this and see if its possible to add it on the door which doesnt have the light package.

Well, I would be willing to guess that if your car did not come equipped with them from the beginning; that it would be much more involved than just adding some $40 luminous light strips - such as, do you have the fiber optics system to feed the strips?
Idk what is involved in getting these to illuminate - I have them on my coupe, but never tore the door panels off to take a looky see

Even if it were possible to retrofit it, I don't think it would be worth it.
I think you're better off making a custom LED strip with low powered LEDs and wire them yourself/have a shop do it. |

its been a while but just an update on this. ive managed to install the ambient lights on all 4 panels. its been a pain in the ass but has been done. ordered the parts which contain
4 plastic pieces which you can see on the door panels and which are holders for the light strips which goes inside. the material is the same as on angel eyes. at the end there is a bulb with a housing on which you connect the strip. as it is cut on a perfect angle the light glows through the whole strip. what you need to do to install this is drill the holes inside the door panel (the positions of the holes were already marked) then cut out the leather so the panels can go in through the door panel. melt the plastic tips from inside the door panel and thats it. after that whats left to do is the wiring. |

glad to hear you pulled it off, I love the ambient lighting in my e92! everybody who rides in my car at night thinks it is aftermarket!

how much of a hassle was the wiring? considering doing a upgrade to get these myself, my e92 does not have them. nor does it have the lights underneath the doors..(did yours have these?)
