BSW Stage 1 Audio Upgrade Questions

I'm a noob just looking for better sound quality so it is not neccessary to get technical here but for those who have this Upgrade:

1. Honestly, does it provide better sound quality?
2. Is that margin of quality noticeably worth the money?
3. How does it stack up to a Logic 7?
4. Your overall opinion on the upgrade?

I will add that I bought the BSW kit for my HiFi model, but they are not yet installed. Understand that BSW does not build their own units- although that is hardly unusual these days of contract build houses. As my install progresses (I am waiting for replacement speakers for the underseat woofers) I will update these threads.

Racer,

I got the JL XD600/6 amp recommended on this forum by Technics and others. technics makes a wiring harness that allows you to translate the BMW wiring into leads and connectors suitable for an aftermarket amp. His leads are clearly marked, makes the substitution of an amp much easier.

I have the HiFi system, which in this case is an advantage since they are easier to mod than the Logic 7. My case is also a litttle different in that I am replacing the underseat woofers. The BSW kit does not replace those. BSW suggests their aftermarket sub to augment low frequencies, but they still assume the midbass will be handled by the OEM underseat woofers. Some people, like myself, are concerned that lack of attention to the midbass can not be compensated for by an increase in the lowest octave.

The OEM hi-fi midbasses are actually pretty good when they are limited to only the midbass frequencies. The addition of more power from an aftermarket amp will make them a little better. Its when they try to play lower into the sub-bass frequencies that they start to suck. If you're going to install a true subwoofer in the trunk, trying to get the most out of the OEM midbasses is actually a decent way of doing it if you're trying to stay within a budget.

It will help if you could post what you are actually looking for in music and in the level of upgrading/complexity in the install. For example, if you are looking for better clarity, better midbass response, that the install be PnP, and so forth...

808,

No argument, really. In my case the underseat woofer blew on driver's side. My search for a replacement led me to this site, and now the bug has bit.
I listen to a fair amount of acoustic/classical/jazz music, and the 30 HZ notes are not as important as those between 40 and 200. My instinct is to get the midrange right before I add the last octave with VP's stealth in the trunk. I am currently trying to get Jehnret 8 inchers for under the seat. The leading alternative is the Morel ADMW. In either case I think I would have a midbass foundation on which to build. I have the BSW kit, and if that doesn't work out I can go for other alternatives. 6spdcoupe has had some good things to say about the Jehnrets.

And if i were to get the BSW stage 1 speakers all I would need to do is upgrade the amp to make those speakers even better right? and I heard you recommend the XD600/6 or is there something better now.

Either it is the Stereo or the Logic7 system if it is an E90; there was no HiFi system in MY2010 offered in the E90/E92.

For your Stereo system there's a harness that helps add a processor/amp to your system so you do not have to cut any OEM wires.

What's your budget and what you would like to do/replace in your system?

I just want to make it sound better. I was thinking about getting the BSW Stage 1 speakers and upgrading the amp. Unless you have a better idea. I dont want to spend more that 1000.
