Good luck you won't get your car back if they find an issue and there are no parts for the fix in the UK mine went in on Saturday found heat damage no parts car condemned to being unsafe told to pick up a pre arrange hire car up from local enterprise and wait for a call once parts are in there a few customers like this who have been in rentals for 2+weeks already

Had mine booked in for MOT and Check (yesterday) at Specialist Cars Tring and they did both recalls without prompting

No alarms and no surprises (and it passed its MOT as well )

Well I'll be waiting til they get the parts then before I let them near my car. My wife is due with our first child on Tuesday. So a car is some what of a must.

Thanks for the info!

I would get it in checked over within 1.5hrs from 8:30 drop off in the morning to getting into the hire I was sorted, with my BM deemed unsafe and kept off the road awaiting parts. I know what I would rather have of course it's my BM back issue free, but would I risk driving it around with potential fire risk with the OH & family in no way would I.

So I called my local dealership about the recall a few weeks ago, they said they would call back the following week to arrange getting my car in. Of course, they didn't call so I called back this week only to be told that they wouldn't have parts until August and to call back then!!

Now, my car is 9 years old and probably ok but, what if my car decided to turn into a flaming inferno between now and then!!?!

I rang mine yesterday and was told 4-5 weeks for parts.

When I asked what happens if the car breaks/catches on fire, she said to ring an 0800 number and they would recover it to BMW for repair...even though the parts are on a 4-5week lead time still

Take it back, mine was shown to have the start of cable burn to the heater my dealer took the car from me and gave me a hire car at BMWs cost until it is fixed. You should get this too surely!

Letter from BMW.

No parts in stock, basically don't contact us, we will contact you.

They did add that it should be ok to continue to use the car unless it starts acting strangely, like electrics cutting out etc.

So I have to wait for another letter.

August 22nd now, apparently no parts in the country. Am curious as to whether they would have notified me before Monday 25th that they wouldn't have the parts to do the work or would they have just taken the car in on the 25th & left me car less until the parts come in if they had found an issue.

I called the BMW helpline about the E90 fire risk recall. They said mine was not affected (2011 E90 LCI). But that it needed some kind of brake vacuum recall. I too welcome any issues they find although I won't be getting them to fix them.

I've already had the "vehicle health check" video emailed to me. It basically just tells me how much tread depth on each tyre (which I already knew because I just replaced all four tyres a few months ago), and the brake pad thickness at each wheel (which I already knew because I did them myself last month) and not a fat lot else.

They're going to clean it, but it doesn't really need cleaning. Let's see if they come back with anything else. The service has been great up to know but I guess that's why people pay the premium. I like to DIY most of the maintenance and repairs if I can because then I know it's done right and I can satisfy my slight OCD.

Update: Just had a call, it's all done. They've said they can't find a single thing wrong with it and that it's clearly a well maintained car. Damn... I was hoping for a new timing chain out of it. At least I can get rid of this horrible Mini Club/Countryman thing they've given me.

phoned the bmw emergency line as concerns over the saftey of the car.

They collected it from my work and gave me a brand new Quashqai and said they'll ring me when its done- cant argue with that

So far it's been a little over a week since my car was taken off me by BMW in regards to the heater wiring issue. I rang the dealer for an update they said they knew nothing from BMW as to when the parts required would be available. I myself then rang BMW UK who then confirmed this by saying they themselves did not know any confirmed date for these parts from BMW Germany. Not great to be honest and although I have a hire car at their expense, I did not buy my BMW E91 to be driving a Vauxhall Insignia a few years later that I'm not even allowed to put my dogs in or my kayak or bike on the roof this situation is madness!

Booked mine in ( BMW Specialist Cars Stevenage ) a few weeks back for warranty work on the blower motor .

Not only did I get a good health check but they also did the battery recall as well !. Apparently it was logged as done but when they inspected it had not ! Only one fault found on tire being close to 2mm . No pressure to buy or use them to replace .

Excellent service and will go back .
