My New MINI Cabrio with Sport Pack

I picked up my new car just before Christmas and have been enjoying it ever since. For those who aren't aware I was a bit stuck in deciding between a MINI Hatch and Convertible, but in hind sight can't see where the dilemma lay.

For the past three days the car has been in the workshop, undergoing some serious TLC...

Wheels cleaned with Bilberry, agitated using Swissvax brushes
Snow foamed
Rinsed
Washed with Duragloss shampoo using the two bucket method and Zymol sponges (these are silicon free, which makes them kind to the paint work)
Dried using Chemical Guys blower and Miracle Driers
Clayed using Zaino Z18
Chicago Pnematic rotary used for polishing:
Meguiars 105 on 3M polishing pad
Finished with Menezerna 85RD on a 3M finish pad
Rinsed with filtered water
Three layers of Swissvax Best of Show
Topped with Zaino Z8
Wheels sealed with Chemical Guys Wheel guard
Tyres dressed with Zaino Z16
Glass sealed with Gtechniq sealant
Interior hoovered
Mats sprayed with Fabric Guard
Leather cleaned with Swissvax leather feed

50/50 shot taken under the halogens...

I won't bore you with more 50/50s, skipping straight to the results...

Flake pop...

Still to come, MINI Soft top cleansing treatment and sealant.

I'm thinking about having the amber side reflectors on the wheel arches tinted red but haven't been able to find any information online regarding the best method and materials to use. If anyone has any advice on this I'd greatly appreciate it. In the mean time I'm awaiting a response from Germany regarding the availability of these.

Having gone for the Sport pack with aerodynamic body kit, I wasn't able to opt for chrome line exterior, meaning that a chrome exhaust tip isn't available for my car . So, I'm currently investigating to see if there is any way I can make this work but may have to explore the option of going aftermarket .

That said, the sound from the standard One exhaust is actually pretty great.

The car is brilliant for commuting. It does feel very much like two different cars with the roof up and down and I'm pleased to say that the heaters are very effective. The external/road noises are much more noticable in this car but it's a worthwhile compromise for the roof down motoring to come soon (wind deflector on standby ).

I'm sure BMW didn't do that when my car was last serviced and then washed .

Lovely looking motor (for a bird ).

That certainly is a clean Mini, think I would loose the "One" badge on the rear, most people will think its a Cooper or better so why let them know what it really is.

+1 on the debadge - even if not to disguise the model, it will clean up the rear end.

It also looks like it is riding quite high, it would look seriously good with some lowering springs.

Impresses with the detailing regime, very thorough!!

PS: Is it not possible to get clear markers on the arches? Would kinda match the front and rear lights better than red IMO

Very clean and nice car!
Agree with other's to get clear markers rather than those orange ones

Thanks

It’s circa £20k new, but I followed my own advice I found one already built saving myself considerable time and money, on top of that I have a great MINI manager here who offered me more than I expected on the Yaris.

Re the Porsche... sure, but it’ll take a few days

There’s too many I like for me to be able to choose, including Orange.

I’m tempted to and remove the window sticker too

Will probably remove the one badge once the exhaust is sorted. I’m not sure whether they do markers in other colours yet, but I can already imagine that they could be a pain to swap over if they are bonded to the arches.

I don’t want to get too carried away, knowing me I’ll probably end up with a coilover kit.

Thanks for all the comments on the detailing too

I just ordered the roof sealant. I was going to get Nanolex but have gone for the 303 Aerospace kit because I’m hoping with it being dual purpose I can use it to protect the carpets etc too.

De-badge the back and then LOWER IT.

George from EvoTechnik will set you up with everything you need re: tinting the lights and also lowering it.

I think you are registered some come and ask about it

how much for your detail? Didn't realise you have detailers working for Sytner!

My 335d is being detailed by Mercury Detailing this week and I pick it up tommorrow....can't wait to see it. I've gone for a nanolex pro sealant application on mine rather than wax. I need maximum durability as I suffer from idiolitus.

Super, I'll contact George once I've made my mind up about the colour. Thank you!

Well I detail my own cars .
Sytner can and do arrange cars to be detailed if a customer requests it, but we don't really advertise the service.

Hi Peter, it's metallic midnight black. It was quite dim out when the photographs were taken.

I thought it was at first, discounting the last picture, which I don't believe is the paintwork (is it the roof?), I cannot see a metallic sparkle, it appears to be highly polished flat black.

I am sure Anneka will tell idc.

Get plenty of the sealant round the bottom of the rear window (on the fabric roof) and where the roof fabric meets the rear panels.
The cab's suffer quite badly on those areas from green mould growth,it's a pita to remove.
