I have 2011 335i xdrive and I'm looking for winter 19s. Any suggestions on tires and sizes?

My summers are F: 225/35/19s, R: 255/30/19s.

Wondering whether I should keep the same ratios or perhaps go to 35 (or 40 if they fit?) all around?

Any thoughts?

id go with a square set up, smaller tire width (either 225/235) 35. 40 will fit no problem.

Doesn't really matter.....the bigger and wider you get the more you pay. Plus with square setup u can rotate.....no other benefits really. That is if you don't drive in deep snow all the time, because then I would go with 225s

The narrower the tire, the better it will plow through the snow. I have a 335is that came with OEM 19's in a staggered set up. My winter tires are 18's in a square set up. Personally I'd avoid 19's simply from all the pot holes that develop during the winter.

I drive my 19" with ultra-performance summer rubber throughout the winter. No problem with road damage, grip, or anything else....even when it gets REALLY REALLY cold outside and the thermometer measures 12 degrees celcius. BRRRRRR Winter tires, smaller rims, and X-driver for winter are all for wimps! Man up!

When you bump up or down the tire profile, it'll change the overall diameter of the wheel. It'll throw off your speedometer a bit. I would recommend staying within factory specs especially since you have the Xi. Use http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp to help you calculate the overall diameter numbers compared to your factory wheels.

Your choice of winter tires is usually limited with 19s too.

I am driving a 2012 335is with the 19" 313 wheels and same tire sizes as you.

I'll be using either an 18x8" or 18x8.5" winter wheel. If I get the 18x8", I'll be using 225/40-18 all around for a square setup, and if I get the 18x8.5", I'll be using 235/40-18 all around for a square setup.

I also recommend buying a full size winter wheel and spare snow tire (if your budget allows), because if you ever crack a wheel or damage a tire in the middle of the winter, finding replacements can be very difficult and expensive. Most tire manufacturers have limited production runs of winter tires, and don't keep making them during the winter months.
