if you use non-oem pads, do you need to get them 'coded' or anything? Is there a warning sensor on them?
Aside from akebono, any other suitable low-dust pads? AM thinking of taking the car to ACT Brakes or Costellos, rather than the dealer. My service indicator still says 100,000kms until front brakes!!! But it's been like that for 2 years btw, does the service indicator work off the sensor, or just a 'countdown' based on distance the car travels? Last edited by satz; 09-17-2016 at 05:24 PM.. |

I can't believe you all love and recommend akebono pads. I drove my friends 335i with them and felt like something wrong with his brakes he said wait another couple hundred miles they are new. Drove the car again and I was like they are not for me. If you don't mind the brake dust stick with oem or second choice is HPS 5.0 which is great performance pads. I would never ever get akebono..

I've had ceramic pads before and didnt like the feel of them at low speed at all. FWIW I use stoptech street performance pads and they have minimal dusting and are very quite and pull up ok when cold (they're a street pad light track day use) and were quite cheap for a performance pad. |
