VRSF downpipe fitment?

I'm aboput to buy downpipes and wanted to make sure how good the fitment is for VRSF DPs?

Called a shop and he said he had experience where he was able to install in 2 hours and another took 5 hours because of fitment of brand etc.

So any recommendations? My car is 2011 335is if it makes a difference.

Sup 335is bud! I am actually working through an issue with my VRSF downpipes now so I don't think you'll find a better candidate to answer your questions!

First, I'd say fitment issues with VRSF are few & far between, especially nowadays. Now with that being said, I purchased new VRSF dps for my iS earlier this year and installation was much more of a struggle than it was on my '09 335i. Not sure if it was the set I received or micro changes with the iS, but the DPs have to be aligned perfectly for everything to seat properly without touching any bolts/firewall/each other.

I have a small exhaust leak on the midpipe side that I tried to fix over the weekend, but after realigning everything and bolting them down, it's clear the gaskets are toast. I just ordered all new gaskets (2 on the turbo side, 2 on the midpipe side) and will be doing a full uninstall & reinstall this weekend. I expect this to take 5 hours and it's my third time doing downpipes.

In conclusion, I still believe VRSF are the best downpipes for the money. Although they're currently causing me a headache (not literally, the exhaust leak isn't big enough for that), I think I could have done a better job on the initial install to avoid this.

Haha IS gang!

Lmao but ok yeah, I actually ordered them I couldn't wait...

Shop only quoted me 270$ Canadian for install so I think I'll get it shop installed that way. Hopefully they don't encounter your issues tho... and make me have to double check the work after.

I put some in mine 3 or 4 yrs ago with zero issues. Just need to make sure they're clocked correctly and the v-bands are in the correct position before tightening everything back up. It's a pain in the ass doing it the first time but after that it's pretty smooth going.

Yeah, I'd say that's small change for this install, definitely worth it. I was also replacing my waterpump at the time so it was a 2 in 1 install for me.

I'm going to update in the 335is thread after this weekend. I had posted about my issue months ago but never followed up. Hoping all goes back together well and the sound gets to where I want it to be. I miss the sound of my old N54!!!

Mine are VRSF and I have had zero issues with them. The install took me a long time because the car was on jack stands and working one handed on some of the stuff is a pain.
$270 seems like a good deal to me

Yeah like I'm all up as a DIY guy but IDK just dropping the car off a day and picking it up and it's all good for 270$. Altough I called back and the guy said it might be more if rusted bolts etc.

I really want it ready for next weekend because we have a big car meet so I guess I'll get it done by the shop.

I can't wait to hear the car with them tho hahaha

For me, the vbands are so difficult to get on when the dps are aligned without touching anything.

There's an E12 bolt near the top side of the front dp, not sure what the bolt is for from memory (I think tranny) but it's so friggen close to the dp. When I line up the dp away from the bolt, the dp doesn't seat perfectly against the turbo so it takes some maneuvering to get the angle right. There's literally no margin for error on the angle required to properly seat the dp on the turbo without touching that bolt.

you can also have issues if you have older motor mounts that sag and make your DPs touch and vibrate the whole car ( thats what hapened in my case )

Can you elaborate more on this? My motor mounts are definitely in need of replacement so I wonder if this could be causing my issue. I'm getting a vibration at 5k+ RPMs so it would make sense if it's because the engine's torqued out of place.

Only 56k. Letting off the gas hits way too heavy, so I'm guessing motor mounts.

What milleage are mounts usually changed, I thought it was much more than that...

We've sold 100's and 100's of VRSF DP's. Although with the amount of volume they do there may be a bad seed once in a while (like any company), overall they fit well and do as intended. Highly recommend.

Yeah it the IS has a like 400$ USD motor mount on FPC EURO genuine.

But I looked at rockauto and they sell a left and right one much more affordable.

Here I found it, one motor mount 680$ USD genuine BMW lmaooooo.
