NEW! Stoptech Trophy Sport Brake System Installed at HP Autowerks, Inc.

Just sharing some photos of the new Stoptech Trophy Sport Brake system. This particular system was installed on our project 335i

Front Kit is 355 x 32mm
Rear Kit is 345 x 28mm

Wheels are Advan RS 18 x 9.5 at all four corners. There is plenty of caliper to wheel clearance. Right before Bimmerfest we had the chance to install a similar kit on an E92 M3 with 380 x 35 front and 355 x 35 rear, and these same wheels cleared the 380mm rotor and 6 piston caliper!

These calipers are just over 1 lb lighter than the regular ST60 and ST40 calipers for those looking for further weight reduction(all unsprung weight we are talking about here!). Brake pads are still the standard ST60 and ST40 style.

"StopTech, a manufacturer of brake components and brake
systems for production-based race cars and high performance vehicles,
has introduced the new Trophy Big Brake Kits. These premium Big Brake
Kits from Centric Parts' ultra-performance division sport a host of
features optimized for production-based cars on the race track.
StopTech's Trophy Big Brake Kits represent the first time StopTech has
made race-specific brake systems available to the public after the
company's long relationship with championship-winning professional race
teams.

"StopTech's Trophy Brake Systems take our experience and successes from
our racing program and deliver on-track performance with no compromise,"
said Dan Lelchuk, president of Centric Parts. "As far as the brakes go,
you provide the pads and the track, and a StopTech Big Brake Kit
provides the rest for your stock or tuned performance production car."

These racetrack and competition brake systems come with StopTech's new
Trophy STR lightweight forged calipers in four- or six-piston
configurations and include the option of a quick release version of the
StopTech patented bridge. These "track only" calipers feature the same
metallurgy and design of the StopTech ST-40 and ST-60 calipers, but are
engineered to provide a 20-percent reduction in weight without
sacrificing stiffness or performance. "Every race team out there is
obsessed with shaving off weight, no matter what the sport, and
StopTech's Trophy STR racing calipers do just that," said Dino
Crescentini, CEO of Centric Parts and race car driver in the SCCA World
Challenge Series on The SPEED Channel.

StopTech Trophy Big Brake Kits include the company's patented
AeroRotors, engineered to increase airflow by 11 percent for better
cooling and performance. Unique to the Trophy Brake Systems is
full-floating mounting hardware, which eliminates pad knock-back. The
patented, billet 7075 aluminum AeroHats create an additional 4 percent
airflow, according to StopTech. Together, these technologies optimize
the rotor system to provide even performance and consistent feedback to
the pedal under the unique combination of hard cornering and braking
found on the track.

StopTech Trophy Brake Systems will be available through motorsports
distributors in January 2009 for selected high-performance production
cars including Porsche, BMW, Mitsubishi Lancer EVO, Nissan GTR and 350Z,
Chevrolet Corvette C5 and C6 and others."

Come see these brakes at the Stars Burger meet this Saturday in El Monte!

Please contact me for details.

Sweet brakes!

But what I want to know, did you really stuff a 265/35-18 UP FRONT on an E90?! Is that with the 18x9.5 ET 35 Advans? No rubbing with that setup, or did you have to modify the fenders? Wow, just wow!

Please share the offset of the front wheels with us.
What did you have to do to make the 9.5 wide wheel to work on the front.
How much is this StopTech Trophy Sport Brake System ? Do you think BBS RG-R 8X18 and 8.5X18 have room for these?

18 x 9.5 et35 with 265/35R18 front and 275/35R18 rear.

My track tires are 18 x 9.5 et35 as well with 265/35R18 at all 4 corners, but will soon go to a 18 x 10 et43 with 285/35R18 rears.

An afternoon with a cut off wheel and grinder?

Harold,
Will these brakes work with the xi? These may be a winter purchase for me... Also, I thought you guys were going to try 18x9.5 ET25? Are you running a 10mm spacer up front?

The xi is different, I'll check with Stoptech.

18 x 9.5 with et25 will never work, you will rub on the fenders.

No spacers at all is needed.

The wheel will stick out 10mm more. Unless you run a very narrow tire, the tire will rub on the fender.

Maybe the poster meant to say et35?

I'm going out on a limb here, but I do know that my STaSIS/Alcon front kit works for both the "i" and "xi" models, so I imagine that any other company's BBK, at least for the front, is going to fit too.

I don't know the fitment either. An email has been sent to Stoptech for verification.

ET 25. It will stick out the front. Not necessarly the best race/lap setup I know for the E90 but it 100% works on full load + some front camber with higher front height with a little fender pull

Could it possibly be your alignment setting is diffrent from mine? Hence the diffrence, also I pulled out my front and rear fender already. So how can you say it does not look like 9.5 x ET 25

To be even sillier I have also try a 30mm spacer on the front with a modifed wide fender with these 18 x 9.5 ET 25 wheels already. It can drive but in terms of performance it was an epic fail which forced me to go back to stock fender

Here is a pic of my car with pulled stock fenders notice the wheel is still sticking a little bit out. But still fine at this height under full load on corner.

I would like to ask also since this is a fairly race setup from Stoptech how does this compare to the Brembo Racing kit which uses 2pc billet aluminum. I know that the Racing kit from Brembo cost an arm and a leg.

What is the price for this kit because from what I see it is fairly aggressive yet it still can put back the stock dust shield and yet this kit is a quick release pad retainer w/o rattle clips.

Hi Jon,

You can have these brakes in both ways, either the full race system with no dust boots or the sport with dust boots.

These calipers are just over 1 lb lighter per caliper and are of a much stiffer platform with minimum caliper flex.

If these aren't on the same level as the Brembo race system, it sure bridge the gap between the best street brake kit you can get and the fulll race brakes. There isn't even a Brembo race system application for the BMW 335i, but please correct me if I am wrong.

I'd never think that 380mm rotors would clear an 18" wheel.
