My perception is you dont have an competitive offer from the dealer, and are saying that to make the private price look more attractive. Otherwise, if you REALLY wanted to sell the car you wouldn't care who bought it. p.s. i assume you bought the car from a dealer?

The fact that the car has dropped £2.5k in just over a month shows the state of the market.
If you need the car gone - id take it to a dealer now and accept the offer as come March 1st and the new plate they will offer you less, and people will perceive your cars as being 12 months older.

I bought the car privately with cash as finance wasn't needed.
I'll sell to whoever comes to me with the highest offer. Not going to enter into any more discussions about this, for some reason it seems like hard work and a constant attack |

To be fair ,i dont think you have helped yourself,on a number of occasions you have stated no offers ,cheapest in britain .buyers interested who have no money ,dealer offering circa your asking price less a few hundred, like others have said its hard to belive a bmw dealer will offer 19 ish for a cash buy, plenty of advice given ,money is money and a bmw dealers is as good as any, failing that i would give the ebay auction a try, after all with a reserve set you lose only the advert fee, with no obligation to sell.

Some of the lines have been a bit Arthur Daley school of car dealing
A autotrader ad with the facts no bull, the price the car is worth which is available form glasses guide for £3.50 which will be right for the spec and mileage the car will sell the car is a great car but is only worth the market value maybe a little more because of the condition Last edited by buckethead; 02-24-2012 at 07:03 PM.. |

as a general guide to get a private sale you only gonna get £500 to 1k above the dealers trade in price to make the sale appealing for the private buyer.
why go through the hassel of a private sale for a couple of hundred pounds i've sold cars to people i don't like but still take their money Last edited by buckethead; 02-24-2012 at 06:55 PM.. |

All good advice above. "don't like car dealers" is a very weak explanation. Get a true valuation from a dealer and decide if it's enough being aware of plate change next week.

335d
Some figures to clarify values on the 335d with 37000 miles,
figures come direct from cap which is the more popular valuation subscription based trade site, valuations include the extras listed as options rather than standard spec, Dealer retail price £19300 to £21000. Trade in <clean>. £16.050.to 17100. prices inc extras listed by the seller. trade in price assumes you are placing a bit of buisness with the dealer,so in case where this is not the case eg outright purchase expect price to be lower than stated above, These are guideline only ,the dealer will take otherthings into account which members on here will know all about. probably explains why no buyers at 19 for a private sale ,despite car looking a nice one, |

Seriously considered having a look as the car is local to me,looking for a e92.93 m sport and engine size not that important, one thing missing from the advert is the fact i would become the 5th owner!!!!!!, i know many discussions on the ins and outs over number of owners ,but i would not be comfortable in 12 months time trying to sell to a 6th ,you can bet your life a bmw dealer will have your pants down once they know its a 4 owner car in just over 3,25 years ,

Sounds like a private sale at 17500-18000 would be about right, there is no way a dealer is paying 19 for it to then refurb and retail.

Me too, understand they are there to make money ,but totally agree some of the "dealers has offered me 2,000.,000 for it " comments are a joke, shame but number of owners has put a downer on it for me to buy.would need to be around 17 for me

Sorry, but op, if you rally have been offered just "a few hundred less" than you want, then you really should have taken it.
Whilst you may believe your car is "the best colour combination" in fact red leather is marmite and plenty of people dont like it. Likewise, Navigation is seen as pretty much essential on these higher spec/larger engined cars, hence why the trade guides give prices assuming nav with a reduction if not. Went and collected this car today! An absolutely fantastic example of a 335d!
Car has been well looked after and is in fantastic condition, I am thoroughly blown away by the capability and performance of the car, a big leap from a mapped 325d Thanks to the seller, was a pleasure meeting with you today!

It just goes to show, don't judge a book by its cover. The car is an absolute minter and the seller was an absolute pleasure to deal with.

I could fully understand where the op was coming from with his distain for the trade, lazy twats who live off the hardship of hard working people. I just cant for the life of me understand why the haters jump onboard when they have no interest at all in buying? "I dont like the way the adverts wrote out" boo fucking hoo,all it done was show them to look like tit ends! |
