Yup.. that's the world we live in. The thing everybody forgets is what the no-claims discount actually does. All it does is give you a percentage discount of your basic premium. The more claim-free years, the higher the percentage discount.
However, the discount still only applies to the base premium. If you have an accident, you will be considered higher risk, so your base premium goes up. If you are a journalist, you automatically get a 25% loading on the base premium because of your employment type. The no-claims discount will still apply, but the base premium will be higher. If your no-claims is NOT protected, then you're hit with a double-whammy, as not only does the base premium go up, but you lose one years (typically 10%) discount as well...

Hard luck Carlos - that's a sickener
Not trying to dwell on your misfortune, but I presume you weren't able to drive on that...which brings up my misgivings about the lack of a spare... I did ask my dealer what about RFTs having catastrophic failure but he said it couldn't happen..............

Should a wheel really fall apart like that? Threaten to take the council to court for the damage caused - that is really appalling.

Carlos, you need to clear out your PM inbox - you've got the max number of messages in there and can't send anything to you until you've got space...

Feel for you man, what a complete B#stard. Looks like it has been hit by a tamper's tine! (the others wont have a clue what we are talking about).
Seriously, go back and have a look at that kerb as it looks like something pointed has dug in and ripped the rim back. Is this the excuse for the M3

Hi Carlos, oh dear that is nasty. What's done is done as they say. I agree with Steve A, maybe time to change/upgrade all the wheels, especially if the tread is a bit low on the tyres. Dont agree with him about the 'lowly SE' though

Ouch Carlos, feel for you, we've all kerbed alloys at some point. How the hell did you get home with it like that?! Looks like it wouldn't drive right.
I'm not convinced your insurance would go up by quite that much, I still reckon it might be worth claiming but you should call them soon if you plan to - best not to delay informing them.

Carlos, that's a total bummer. I feel for you. Sleep well on it, call Tony's dealer and get the DXB back on the road to recovery. You'll feel better.

That looks really nasty - I feel for you.
You don't need to buy 4 new alloys your 19's are ace. One new wheel and replace any illegal tyres should be job done. Tracking check, maybe but get the service technician to road test the car. They will soon tell you if it needs a tracking check or not. I'm sure your baby will be fine soon and will all be forgoten in a week or 2. |
