You may keep your car in Europe up to 5 months after delivery (there is a 19% penalty tax if your car is not exported within the 6-month period). Cars financed through BMW Financial Services must be exported within 90 days. Cars leased through BMW Financial Services must be exported within 30 days.

Keep in mind, BMW covers insurance for only 2 weeks after delivery.

So I'm curious would it be possible to acquire ED pricing, but skip on going to Europe, or for a day or two?

The person who is named on the bill of sale needs to pick up the car in Munich. You can drop it off the minute you leave die Welt and fly back the same day, but why would you?

The ED experience is worth more than what you are saving on the purchase price. In fact, with all the incentives available for domestic sales, it really doesn't pay to do ED if you're just looking to save a few $$$.

Although you can pay to get it extended, I think it was posted a couple pages back. Apologies if that was you.

I agree for old (2010) cars on lots that dealers are struggling to dump, but I would be surprised if you could beat a new order ED price.

In the U.S., you can get any BMW via ED that you can buy at your dealer, except those made in the U.S. (X3 ,X5 and X6). So, can you get an X1 at your dealer ? (no ?) then it's not available via ED.
By the way, if you live in Canada, the rules are different. You should check with your dealer.

I've seen conflicting information related to doing an M5 ED. I've read that you can't ED an M, but looking at the bmwusa.com website it looks like you are allowed to ED an M.

Can anyone clarify for me?

Thanks!

You can definitely do an ED for an M car. Check out the bimmerfest ED forum, lots of pics and stories about M deliveries.

Quick ED

I once did ED three weeks before delivery. Ordered on May 2, picked up in Munich on May 26. This was a new model E39 which had just been released in 1996. It had strange interior and exterior and was a 5 speed MT. You need to have you dealer call and see what they can do.

If you ever get the chance to the ED, do it you will NOT regret it guaranteed!

Once of the best and memorable experience I had in my life.

4-8 weeks sounds about right I ordered mine about 8 weeks before. I've heard of very few circumstances of 4 weeks before. Sounds like next few months are packed though.

Question for any of the Euro delivery experts, if you finance or lease, is there a required down payment or deposit for this program?

I would love to do a sign and drive lease, given especially that the Euro discount would pretty much cover the amount that most people have to put down on a typical lease.

Thread revival...

If you have a good credit score, you can sign, but you will not be able to drive until you fly overthere...

as far as deposit or down payment, again, that's subject to your credit score and planned financed. You will eventually have to pay ...

As for me, i haven't put down a single penny since doing the pre-order... but when the times comes, 45 days before the comfirmed and planned ED pick up date , i will be signing the paper works allowing BMW to proceed with the production and the insurance paper work.

We will then be talking about the financing... i will get my down payment ready.

The process takes times, but it's pain free!!! very easy and only requires that you be patient.
