How new are the brakes for each car?

I would say that brakes are the main advantage of the scheduled maintenance program, since rotors and pads cost a fair amount.

The scheduled maintenance really isn't a big deal as far as oil changes are concerned. Oil change will cost about 80 bucks, so not a big deciding factor.

The maintenance program is a double edged sword. Yes, its free, but as an enthusiast you risk your car at the hands of the dealer every time you take it in.

how recently should the brakes have been serviced?

If the car is CPO, it should basically have minimal wear or brand new brakes. Pads will last anywhere from 20k to 30k miles depending on use, whereas rotors could go up to 50k miles.

For the 60k one, good maintenance would dictate a rotor change along with two brake pad changes.

For the 40k one, at the least, the brake pads should have been changed once.

Just take a look at the pads on each car to see how much is left.

Just look inside the wheel and look at how thick the pad is

As a reference, use a flash light to look inside the front and rear wheels of your current car. You should notice that the front pads are more worn than the rear. You will get a reference for pad thickness based on your mileage. Make a mental note and use it when you look at the pads on the cars. If the pads are nice and thick, you know that they've probably been changed recently.

I'll make sure that has been done to the 60k mile car. The more i think about it, the more i'm leaning toward the higher mileage jetblack one. It's the color i want, the mileage i can live with, and i'll have a warranty for three years as opposed to a year and 7 months. Again i appreciate all the help you guys have chimed in with, and hopefully i will be bringing an e92 to the next meet.

So I think I've narrowed down my wheel choices for the spring. What do you guys think of the BMW Performance 313 vs the Performance 269? I'm having a tough time deciding between the two.

Also,I saw alot of E92 MSports in Ireland over Christmas with the 225Ms and they also look very good. I think I prefer the gray / polished combination of the Performance wheels to regular silver though - thoughts?

269 as Nick would put it FTMFW! Don't waste your time with the spindly 313s Gary!

Haha, I knew what you would vote for! The 313s are a little spindly, but I do like the basic 5 double spoke design and the fact that they are more concave at the rear than the 269s. They'd also be easier to clean. The 269s could be a little classier looking It's a tough choice without being able to see them in person. Too bad there aren't any around.

I dig the 269s, the 225's look like they belong on a e90 228, and the 313s look like they're meant for 135's.

Didn't mean for it to be a bad thing, just to check if it was aftermarket.

Try to make it out to IND while you are in IL to get a ride in their SC M3 and report back
