TCU/MULF to Combox Coding Help!

I just went from TCU/MULF to Combox in my pre-lci e92 with retrofitted CIC. However, I don't seem to be able to code for the Combox. I can't add $644 to the VO, it gives me a COAPI error. If I try to read the new MEDIA module in NCS-Expert it gives me a best version error for a_e65r.ips/ipo.

I added $6VC $6FL $6NF $6NR $614 $615 to the VO and FA_WRITE to CAS. I also removed $612.

Where do I go from here?

Also, my CIC version is CIC.C08 apparently. My biggest thing I want is album art/bluetooth streaming but BMW apps would be nice to have in the future.

Okay so I got album art and bluetooth working. I didn't know that it didn't let you browse the iPhone over bluetooth, that kind of sucks.

I also can't get texts to show up from my iPhone. It says no new messages (even if I have some). It works fine with my Android device.

Also, it still doesn't say ConnectedDrive. What do I need to do to get it to say that? I'm guessing it is because I can't code Combox? Does anyone have a solution to this?

Make sure "Show Notifications" is enabled on your iPhone in the bluetooth device settings.

I replied to your thread over at bme coding aswell I think , what date do you have in your VO ?

try changing it to #0311, then see if media appears on ncsexpert....

if it was connected drive and has changed to bmw services then looks like you will need 9c fsc bmw apps to turn bmw services to connected drive.

Yes, that was me

For those not on the other site...

"thanks for the response!

I am using #0911 for my date and v49 daten. I updated my bmw coding tools software and now I am getting a different error. "error_ecu_service_not_supported" I am able to connect to other modules fine.

Combox still appears to be working after I default coded to CIC. I have album art and SMS work with an Android device but not iOS. My iPhone disconnects whenever I plug it into the USB port and won't reconnect unless I remove it and re-pair it"

Whenever I make a phone call it works fine (i hear audio, they hear me) but once I disconnect the call, the bluetooth cuts out completely until I repair the device. This happens on Android and iOS. Very frustrating.

When I had my Android device connected (with bluetooth tethering enabled) the internet option came up in BMW Assist, and said "connecting" but never went anywhere. Eventually it said could not connect to the internet and didn't let me proceed.

Your need to update your nav firmware.
Are you sure that you have all configured fine to use internet? Do you use a VIN number that let you for this? Tethering is active?

I was looking into the steps more and I didn't configure the internet correctly. That sucks that I have to update the firmware, I don't have ICOM.

Any idea about the MEDIA module not being able to be read?

I just noticed a thread that said BN2010 won't work in an e92... and that's what I got on eBay... does that mean I'm screwed?

I replaced my Combox with BN2000 and was able to code it with my modified VO. I have working bluetooth, including SMS and Phone calls. I switched my CIC with a unit that had ConnectedDrive (so I assumed that it was new enough to support it), but after coding it with my VO the connected drive turned into BMW assist. When I open assist, it is blank and says no services enabled. Any ideas on how to turn this back into connected drive?

If your cic unit reverted back to bmw assist , this usually means you need a 9c fsc code for bmw apps.

Before you search just make sure in your .trc for the cic that you have connected drive enabled and also a4a set to Aktiv and a4a_remote apps aktiv

yes you can bmw live and internet without fsc, aslong as your cic and combox are up to date to have them.

I can pm you a vin number to write to the combox .

you will also need to add $614 $615 I think it is to your VO

you will also need to change in combox .trc file

Telematik_vin to Coding_vin

Can someone explain the process to code my VIN to a combox? Also if I have a BN2010 unit - will it work, or only BN2000? Right now everything works minus BT which only works unpon initial pairing - then disconnects shortly after. Not sure if coding VIN in may solve this.

I don't think BN2010 can communicate with K+DCAN. Can you read the module from NCS Expert?

Yeah because the bn2010 doesn't communicate with the MOST-BUS the same way. You need bn2000
