On a serious note. The AFE DCI is probably the last one I'd buy. Either stick with the basic DCI or go CAI. I think the AFE is rubbish and too expensive for what you get. |

My car felt kinda rough for a week (running Uk Company flash tune) - added 1ltr of oil, now running much sweeter.
Q: Should this have affected the gear change (6MT) as it feels alot better aswell!? |

I recently purchased the Cobb AP and was thinking of getting a mod to accompany it. Would you recommend an oil cooler kit or a FMIC? My car is a baby with only 14k miles, but I want to keep it happy as long as I can...(maybe I'll drop the Cobb later on...)
also, with the increase of boost, would you recommend a oil catch can? |

an intercooler is a GREAT bolt-on if you're running a tune. i ran the cobb accessport and an ets 5" intercooler on my car when i first got it, now i've added most other bolt-ons. an intercooler and cobb will be plenty IMO. oil catch cans are an interesting topic. i ran one on my old 135i (ar design occ) and never caught any oil. i haven't put one on my 335i yet, the bms one does look promising though |

I assume Cobb by itself would be fine w/o a fmic as well? I want to keep my car as low maintenance as possible/least tinkering/most reliable/less money. - I guess that would be stock, but I want some more power

^cobb will work fine with a stock car. An intercooler is an "install and forget it" part, and will give more consistent performance. Stock intercooler is quick to heatsoak, engine pulls timing and you're in danger of knocking with higher intake air temps (iat)

from what i've been reading, cobb pushes out 16-17psi while stock is only around 7-8. Should I be worried about excessive wear without any accompanying mods to help with cooling?

Also, done properly with a real kit (ie. Aquamist) with proper built-in failsafes, it's hardly a band aid. It's a very effective, efficient and inexpensive way to lower charge air temps and to increase octane. |
