My used CAI. Go buy it now!

On a serious note. The AFE DCI is probably the last one I'd buy. Either stick with the basic DCI or go CAI. I think the AFE is rubbish and too expensive for what you get.

My car felt kinda rough for a week (running Uk Company flash tune) - added 1ltr of oil, now running much sweeter.
Q: Should this have affected the gear change (6MT) as it feels alot better aswell!?

I recently purchased the Cobb AP and was thinking of getting a mod to accompany it. Would you recommend an oil cooler kit or a FMIC? My car is a baby with only 14k miles, but I want to keep it happy as long as I can...(maybe I'll drop the Cobb later on...)
also, with the increase of boost, would you recommend a oil catch can?

adding engine oil should have no effect on the gear change in a 6mt transmission. was the cbs prompting you to add more oil?

oil coolers are pretty much unnecessary for 90% of users on this forum. unless you're regurlarly tracking your car and getting high oil temps, limp modes, codes, etc.....don't worry about an oil cooler.

an intercooler is a GREAT bolt-on if you're running a tune. i ran the cobb accessport and an ets 5" intercooler on my car when i first got it, now i've added most other bolt-ons. an intercooler and cobb will be plenty IMO.

oil catch cans are an interesting topic. i ran one on my old 135i (ar design occ) and never caught any oil. i haven't put one on my 335i yet, the bms one does look promising though

FMIC. It will let you run Stage 1+ when that is released. Then you can add more bolt ones later.

^great point. Their downpipes are awesome for the price, I'd expect the intercooler to be the same

I assume Cobb by itself would be fine w/o a fmic as well? I want to keep my car as low maintenance as possible/least tinkering/most reliable/less money. - I guess that would be stock, but I want some more power

^cobb will work fine with a stock car. An intercooler is an "install and forget it" part, and will give more consistent performance. Stock intercooler is quick to heatsoak, engine pulls timing and you're in danger of knocking with higher intake air temps (iat)

Yea, pretty much the same. Marginal difference (if any) because the couplers are slightly different. Overall, the difference is the Color of the filters

from what i've been reading, cobb pushes out 16-17psi while stock is only around 7-8. Should I be worried about excessive wear without any accompanying mods to help with cooling?

Which do you recommend, I'm very torn between the two. I also won't be tracking my car more than 1 time a year but enjoy daily spirited driving.

I live in CT it's cold out now, daily access to 93 fuel.

I have procede and a dci. At this point I'm unwilling to do downpipes with my CPO (to hard to swap on an xi quickly.)
i probably have an unpopular opinion on that topic.

i don't have meth and probably will never get a meth kit. despite the very favorable reviews on this forum (keyword THIS FORUM), meth is seen on most other platforms as a bandaid. evo, sti, honda/acura, etc. don't really use meth. i realize the integration on the n54 platform is much greater, and there are arguably many benefits to using a meth kit on a DI motor like this, i still don't think it's worth the hastle.

i run an intercooler, it serves me fine in the houston, tx heat and humidity. when i go to the track, i put in some unleaded 104 octane and turn up the boost. besides that, i'm very content with using shell 93 octane on my FBO 335i and avoiding the hastle and potential problems with meth injection.

like i said, most people on this forum will tell you to get meth. do some research on your own, analyze what a meth kit would require on a daily or weekly basis for you. figure out if you're capable and willing to install and uninstall the meth kit on your own. trouble shooting will be required, and could make you have to take off the kit to see what's wrong with it. after researching the above points, decide if it's worth it for you in your situation.
Meth is extremely common in the STI/EVO world.

Also, done properly with a real kit (ie. Aquamist) with proper built-in failsafes, it's hardly a band aid. It's a very effective, efficient and inexpensive way to lower charge air temps and to increase octane.
