I have 2008 bmw 328xi and decided to launch it, I turned off traction control put in sports/manual mode, pushed on gas and brake let go of break and floored on gas. I upshifted twice after I went above 3000 rpm. Now when I drive my car, the gas pedal has a very rough feeling when pushing down and the car sorta vibrates, especially when turning.is this the type of thing where I'll wake up tomorrow and drive and it will be fine lol, I'm pretty sure I did something similar and my car was driving rough and vibrating a little bit a few months ago, but then in the morning it was driving fine again. Hope that's the case this time. As you can prob tell I don't know much about cars, trying to get into then more tho.

BTW there's no check engine light or any warning lights

For the vibration while driving. If it happens after a certain amount of speed, you could've lost a weight, on one of your tires.

Ah yes, the old "did you turn it off and turn it back on" resolution. Sometimes these things just need to be treated like a Windows PC.

Haha I wonder why that is, last night I was 100% positive my transmission was f$cked. The car was driving so rough and shaky and just sounded bad. Then this morning driving perfectly.

I was launching it, I had it at about 3000 rpms with my foot on brake then I let go of the brake and slammed the gas, I was in Manuel mode so I upshifted twice after I get above 3000 rpm. Then after that my car was driving all wack and sounded awful. But now (the next day) it's driving fine

Ah ok. Yeah if your car was properly warmed up that should not have done any damage.

Revving an automatic AWD car up to 3,000 RPM while standing on the brakes sounds like a recipe for breaking something.

Why did you upshift twice after 3k Rpms? Sounds like you were driving in 4th gear with almost no speed. That could definitely cause weird vibrations if the car would even let you shift into 4th at that speed. I’d lay off the launches in the future glad its okay.

I misread that. Yeah what you essentially did was what in a TT car would be building boost. No this is not good for your car and honestly I dont see the need to do it in a NA car to begin with especially in a XI.

Initially I thought you said you floored the gas pedal after letting go of the break. Missed the part how yiu had the motor at 3K.

While you might not have a CEL on, it’s still worth scanning for codes to see if there’s anything needing attention.
