E92 AC!
I own a 07' e92 320i.
Previously I had a 318d same year saloon and the ac system was amazing however on my current Beamer, only hot air would blow but not cold and it's getting really hot around here... I went to a garage and they plugged up the car and the machine said wait 10 mins while recharges ac system however it then said its failed and car ac system needs repairing? Any solutions or advice would be appreciated ! |

1) WHAT "failed"? 2) WHAT PART of the "ac system needs repairing"? 3) WHAT Information, either verbally or in writing (see your invoice/receipt) did the "garage" give you about the fault or what needs repairing? 4) Has the A/C system provided cold air at ANY time during your ownership, and if so, when did it LAST provide cold/ cool air?? If you have the Invoice, or paperwork given to you by the garage, if you can scan that and attach a jpg to a post here, we can help. Otherwise, if you want our help, ALL we can do is suggest you find a repair shop/ garage that will give you a written report of precisely: (1) what steps/ procedures were performed; (2) what Fault Codes were read; (3) what other tests or examinations were performed and the results??? ONLY with that information can anyone suggest "next steps" to (1) test to determine cause of fault, and THEN (2) correct the fault by fixing wiring issue, replacing a leaking O-ring seal, replacing a Flap Motor, etc. The system seems complicated IF you don't understand how the various components are supposed to work, and IF you don't understand HOW to test its various functions to identify the cause of the issue. Diagnostic equipment generally does NOT tell you exactly what needs to be done to correct the "Fault". It just gives you information about system Pressures and Temperatures, as well as Position of the Mixed-Air Flaps which direct a variable amount of the cooled air through the heater core to regulate outlet temp. The "Tech" needs to know what those pressures, temperatures, and flap positions should be at certain A/C Control Panel settings, how they should change with changed settings, or how to "Activate" the compressor valve & Flap Motors. If you do NOT understand the system or have diagnostic software such as INPA or ISTA, you basically have TWO choices: (1) Rely on the "Garage" to BOTH (a) Diagnose the Fault, AND (b) Repair the Fault, or (2) get a Garage to just run Diagnostic tests, and tell you what they recommend be done NEXT; Have the garage put the test results and their "next step" recommendation in a written report (good shops give you most of that in their regular invoices), and attach a copy of their Invoice/Report to a post here so someone can offer a "second opinion" on "next steps." I think OP went to a local garage that does a quick recharge and they said its not working.
These garages don't really have any knowledge of the AC system but just recharge the system. Similar experience on my previous VW golf when I when to kwik Fit.. dont ask LOL Really need to get a AC specialist engineer to do diagnostic and give a full report of fault. But prepare to dig into the wallet. |
