Android radio install Carplay
I ordered a radio from Eonon, feeling skeptical as I've ordered from them before and had a radio die within 2 months. However, they updated the model for the e90 to install carplay. Installation took about an hour, but the sound is so much better; and the use of carplay makes the car perfect. Only problem is getting the time to stay but I'll figure that out on my own. I just installed the same unit tonight. A couple remarks and questions. First off the call quality with the external microphone seems to be excellent. I removed the microphone from its housing because it was too big and I placed it in the oem roof location. Sound quality also remarkable.
CarPlay worked quite seamlessly but I couldn’t get my Bluetooth on iPhone 11 latest OS to stay connected. A question for you. Did you wire the constant power into the fuse box and is that necessary? I’m going to order a reverse cam that fits the trunk handle |

The heated seats being in there is nice, i just wish it was easier to get to. I'll end up putting in the ashtray relocation in for the buttons. i also had to install some APKb files when i wanted to use a different launcher. i am using the Agama. I played around with it on my phone first to find the look that i like so far. Gives me the options that i want and looks more stock and user friendly. i didn't like the interface that it came with |

After installing this unit I have a little bit more feedback for anyone considering it. A. The supplied brackets and screws for the head unit aren't the most precise fit. The screws didn't seem to be long enough to catch into the Dash. There are lower clips that are supposed to catch into a bracket they provide which you screw into the dash. The climate control unit and the head unit were constantly fighting to get these in. Ultimately because I couldn't secure the HU with the screws I pushed too hard on the screen and cracked it. B. The sound quality is amazing. The built in DSP function is epic. C. The split screen function was very laggy. I think the drain it caused on the system was too much for it to handle. I couldn't run google maps and youtube at the same time without a lot of lag. I wouldn't put too much faith in that function. Would likely be improved with a better processor and more ram. Eonon doesn't have a higher spec option. D. The screen being as low as it is isn't the most ideal. Overall it isn't bad, but I think the Joying units possible are a better value for this. Joying has a model specific version with an 8" screen, more buttons, better hardware, more memory and higher resolution screen. I returned my Eonon and I think I am going to try a Joying unit with the detachable screen so I don't have to relocate the climate control and I can mount the screen higher. I could also get a 10.25" screen this way. |

exactly. I found someone else on IG that also had this unit and he said the same thing. I returned the unit via amazon. Personally, I also think thats a safety concern. I had the clips pop out during driving. If there is a serious accident that unit could fly out and hit someone. I would find longer screws or contact them so they do that.

I plan on buying the exact same unit and I'm glad it looks so beautiful installed, but even though inside theres an option to use the heated seat function, but part of me still want to retain the buttons. I recall that it's possible to use the AC module from a LCI model with the heated seats button on the module and it's plug and play into the pre-LCI?
An example would be putting this https://www.google.com/amp/www.bimme...-unit-9224546/ and replacing the current prelci one where the buttons are below. Any thoughts/advice? |
