Good old TV.. analogue style. Works better on the country side than in a skyscraper city

Dead Battery smartTV

I had this installed by BMW. It worked fine for 3 months. Now my battery dies due to the smartTV module. Anyone else have this problem? I've removed it and now battery doesn't die overnight.

SmartTV is only on with +12V switched. Once the key is removed - there is no more power to the module.

Have your technician perform a power draw test to find out what is casusing the issue.

They did perform the draw test and when the module was connected the draw was 3500ma. When module disconnected draw was <40ma.

The DVD/TV-in-motion feature can be activated without installing any aftermarket devices.
However the coding might have to be repeated if a dealership updates the CIC.

I have yet to see a SmartTV fail, but every case is treated with care until resolved.

If the module was purchased through us, please contact me via email with your full name so we can have this verified and replaced under warranty.

Hey Tom, will this work on the newest iDrive? The September+ 2011s have some new functionality (bluetooth audio, etc).

You are referring to the new Combox. SmartTV is fully compatible with these systems.

It is possible with no additional hardware installing involved. Coding of your vehicle may do the trick. However it can be ILLEGAL in some areas to have front display showing movie while in motion.

The DVD/TV-in-motion can be activated by the software coding, but if a dealership programs the car they might erase it.

Are you talking about the K+DCAN cable + NCSExpert software?

I believe LCI i-Drives only need a recoding. The problem is the only one who offers a recode for this feature I believe is alekshop and he wants $250.00 for up to 4 features coded. No thanks, I'll wait for a cheaper offer.

2009+ CIC iDrive have DVD playback capabilities, we can code the safety override in house as well.
