I'm looking forward to seeing baseline versus remapped dynos.

Finally! I have been waiting for this. I was just going to purchase the JBD but I'll hold out now. Thanks for showing some dedication to the D community

I completely agree that an independent dyno would be ideal especially when trying to determine overall gains but, at this point the US d aftermarket is so small I'd be happy just to see that they can actually install the software onto a USDM ECU, have it not throw errors or plug up the DPF in few thousand miles and see what the curve looks like compared to stock and/or a JBD.

Them having an in house car is a good thing for us.

Thanks for the vote of confidence guys

Just to confirm, we have been tuning the 335d now for a LONG time, if you want independent reviews please just pop over to the UK part of this site and you'll find tons of people running our software.

Also just to state - we publish the climatic conditions on our dynos so you can see there is no real room for tampering. We also are very well established dyno operators and do pride ourselves on showing a realistic gain rather than marketing a lowest pre-tune and highest post-tune run.

We will be building up some hardware, taking advantage of the systems we already have in place. Most likely be a FMIC, hybrid turbos and various exhaust systems. You can view our progress by following our Facebook page here: http://www.facebook.com/evolveautomotive

I know... I know... we're a bunch of skeptics.

Will you be able to eliminate CEL's if someone wanted to remove the DPF and urea systems like some of the euro guys are? I know the UK guys don't have urea but you get the point.

Yep - we have a special tune for removing the DPFs that cuts down on the 'soot chugging' out the back

Cool. I'm assuming that will include the eliminating the DEF system too? If so that is a big selling point. You can't do that with a JBD or any other piggyback module I'm aware of.

We are looking into the DEF system as it is very specific to the US. It is not removable at the moment but it's on the list of things to get through.

Evolve Automotive has tuned both my E46 M3 and E90 M3. VS Motorsports does all the work on my cars.

They are a winning combination! If I had a 335d, there is no doubt I would be very interested in this tune, along with all the madness they'll be developing, haha.

I'm looking forward to seeing some US 335d's evolved

The tune would be optimized with a software that would eliminate the need for the DPF/restrictions. Even without a performance upgrade, I would buy a tune just to get rid of the DPF/DEF/etc.

The tuning device just came in today. We are hoping to have our first 335d tuned within the next week. So we will be able to start taking DME's in for tuning soon!

I have just remapped my 335d using the evolve switch, I was therefore able to do this from home. Not put my car on the dyno yet, neither have I covered many miles, but it is impressive.

I was glued to the bumper of a Carrrera 4S from 0 to 80mph when testing it on the weekend.

Will post the power/torque graph soon.

Great to hear Norm4n!

We have cracked the ECU in the European models so can do the tuning for it using our Evolve switch system. The US is a different ball game, much harder and can't see it being accessible remotely for a while to come.

I'm sure it's not even remotely cost effective but, would the euro ECU plug into the US harness? Are the same unit & pin out?

Can't really do that - its the coding that goes into linking an ECU to the vehicle - everything including the VIN have to be written in. Lots of things in place to stop that happening!

If your going in for a update on your DME that has to be done and your concerned about your warranty you can send it back and we can flash it back to stock. Then when it has been updated you can send it back and have it flashed. Also all updates are not going to erase the DME. It depends on what its for.
IMO, you'll need to work on this to make it less time consuming. If one suffers some kind of mechanical/electronic breakdown, they're not gonna have time to send you back their ECU and wait for you to flash it back to stock, before they take the car in for repair. If owners have the ability to return their car to stock on their own(piggy-backs etc..), they can take care of this in less than 5 minutes.
Also, while I'm definitely FAR from being an expert on BMW ECU's and programming, one of the most basic forms of tracking direct-ECU re-programming is counting ignition cycles(whenever you turn on or off your car).
This would be an area that I'd want explained before I bought in, 'cuz if your software over-writes this area in the ECU, even the newest of n00bz mechanics in the store will be able to tell the ECU has been tampered with.

Apparently "VS Motorsports" has had the "Evolve" tune for just over a week but has yet to perform it on any US version of the D.

I live in Toronto, Ontario, Canada and I'm strongly considering this tune.

John.
