tran is a common last name to vietnamese. just like garcia to mexican. smith to white.

if you must know. tran is actually chan. my grandpa ran away from china, because of communist, to vietnam. in order to stay in vietnam he had to change it to tran which is more vietnamese like. who'd knew vietnam became comunnist too. so thats how we made our way here to this great nation.

my grandfather had to escape from china as well because of the communists. he was a land owner. my grandparents, mom, and aunt fled to hong kong.
