I haven't tried the DPs yet - and on my XI I don't think I will try - but for the FMIC - even I did it myself watching this video:

There are more DIY out there but videos help to get an idea of your plan of attack.

You sound much more mechanically inclined than I and the only issue I had was cutting off the stock inlet coupling that you can't just pull off like the outlet side. My friend only had an air tool cutter and it BARELY fit - so I suggest not trying this until you get a decently powered rotary tool (dremel for ex) with a metal cutter and guard....the smaller profile will def make it easier.

I just did mine on jack stands as well.

I'm in the same boat, I've never done any of this stuff, but I'd be more than welling to watch, offer suggestions of how you coming along and help drink a 24pk pack of beer without any issues, I'm pretty sure somewhere we'll bond, and I'll even tell you "Job well done when you're finished." lol
