E9X M3 brakes v E9X 335i Brakes
Does anyone know if there is a big quality performance difference in our E9X 335i brakes in comparison to the E9X M3 brakes F&R?
A track day a few months ago meant I ran out of brakes @ 210km/h down the back straight after about 15 laps. Some smart handbraking & foot to the floor saved me. Had to let the car cool down for about 30 mins after I nearly ended up in the sandpit @ the end of the straight. So I'm looking for an upgrade and need your input / thoughts. |

The M3 brakes dont bolt up to the 335i, unless you run m3 hubs and shocks etc I have some m3 brakes and looking at them the caliper looks similar to the 335i item, but the rotors are x drilled and maybe slightly larger. What's your budget? Some fresh high quality brake fluid (motul rbf) and some pagid track pads may be all you need? Advan have the nashin bbk which are excellent BFYB.

I would recommend going with a set of Nashin's which Advan/BMR sell in AU.
I am personally running a set of these, and they are awesome. |

Sounds a bit dangerous and risky. might be worthwhile investing in something ... potentially lose your life or even worse your car .... no insurance on the track i believe.

These 6 pot Brembos with 380 rotors just came up on ECS which look very nice.

Shipping for BBKs are an arm and a leg from US. Probably close to 500 AUD then don't forget about GST and import duty, unless ECS undervalue the goods

Woah.. What's ECS doing trawling through this section of the forums?! Thanks for the clarification though! What's the shipping on the Brembo front BBK to Australia while you're here?

Grand total (deep breath) $3177.60 (USD) shipped via UPS World Wide Expedited (our current cheapest option for this package to your area).
HERE is a custom cart for anyone else that's wondering what shipping to their area would be. -James Last edited by ECSTuning; 03-02-2015 at 01:08 PM.. |

Unless serious racing, it's really best to do as many cool down laps as hard laps with no more than 3 hard laps at once IMO. Not just brakes getting hot, there's oil, coolant, transmission fluid and tyres too.

1) racing fluid like castrol srf, plus race temp pads, reuse your rotors if they are within tolerance, and set up some sort of front brake cooling ductwork. Advantage is lower cost, disadvantage is the cooling setup requires custom work and you'll probably want to swap between Street and track pads as appropriate. 2) get a stoptech bbk, or another brands readily sold in AUS. Pretty sure stoptech is. Advantage is simplicity/ease of install/effectiveness/engineered solution. Disadvantage is cost. |
