Received my official recall letter today.
Took a while from the June recall notification letter.
According to the SA, a letter is not required to schedule the recall as long as the VIN matches the recall list.

Got my car back, it runs great and only took 4 hours.

On top of the they did my spark plugs and only charged me for .5hr of labor, did my Oil/Lube change 2500 miles ahead of schedule, AND provided me with a "Surprise & Delight" gift (as it says on the work order)! They gave me a BMW Umbrella, BMW Tumbler, BMW Wipes and BMW carpet shampoo for FREE!

SUN Motors BMW for the win - awesome service. Extreally happy

A letter is not required but what is required is that your dealer have the replacement bolts in stock. The first letter tells you about the recall and says not to call your dealer because they do not have the bolts in stock. The second letter tells you that your dealer has the bolts in stock and suggest you call and schedule an appointment.

Just got my 335i back from Peter Pan. Apparently the vanos bolt was loose on my car. They changed the gasket. I also got a gift basket; just an umbrella and an air freshner starter kit.

Weirdly enough, the car felt a little bit (very very little bit) more responsive. Then again, it could be that im finally back in my 335i vs the 428i loaner they gave me

I hope this helps others out, I bought my car CPO in May, 30K on the clock, the engine has always sounded like crap, especially on cold starts. It sounded like the lifters were getting the crap beaten out of them until I would give it a blip of throttle on clod starts, but also in general. I passed it off as that's the way its supposed to sound. my first direct inject engine car. . Then over the summer I was occasionally getting a rhythmic hesitation at cruising speed on the highway, 2k on the tach doing 60-70. Was it bad gas? I started noticing that acceleration from a stop was really jumpy, I do have the alpina flash on my slushbox. I just got my car back from the dealer, I had them do the VANOS recall. She sounds smooth now on start up, no more internals beating the crap out of each other. no more jumpy acceleration. I will keep you posted if problems continue, but they seem to have gone. I was worried the hesitation on the high way was the carbon build up I have read about. Hope that helps someone else out. cheers.

Taking mine in on the 19th. I'm hoping to have a similar experience as Delta. My hood could use a paint job and a free oil change wouldn't be bad. Also wouldn't mind driving a 428 or 435 to Chicago from Appleton.

So my lease is ending next month. My bank wouldn't give me a loan worth shit to help pay off the car (wanted to finance it/buy it out). So I struck a deal with the dealer. Mentioned to the salesman about the vanos recall, and he said he'll have them check into it for me. Texts me today that they are doing the vanos recall now and safety check afterwards. No questions asked. This salesman is awesome. First time I've dealt with a nice guy like him. Recommend Paul Miller BMW to anyone having issues. PM for the salesman if you'd like.

BMW of Austin has the parts in finally, no letter though. (bought the car less than a year ago)

Took the car in for my 30k checkup (maintenance plan), broken cupholder, heater acting up, and Vanos bolt recall.

I dropped mine off at the dealership today. For a loaner, they gave me a 2014 328xi station wagon! This car actually isn't bad! A little more like driving a Honda Accord than I'm used to, but we've become good friends. Oops I failed to mention to the SA that I was going to drive it to Chicago from Appleton (188 miles)... , oh and I won't be back until Friday

It was kind of strange, they didn't ask for a cell phone number, proof of insurance, drivers license, nothing... oh well. I think I flustered her when I asked for an xDrive. But there's crappy weather coming, I didn't want to take any chances.

Anyway overall, it's not a bad car. I really like the electronic gizmos, the nav, cameras, sensors, etc are pretty cool... of course I coupled my cell phone to it, which was very intuitive. Very spacious compared to my coupe. The panoramic sunroof is very nice. Probably my favorite feature.

Negatives
1. Being a 328, it doesn't have as much power as I'm used to, but it's more than adequate for DD.
2. The automatic engine cutoff absolutely drives me crazy. Every time you get in and start it, you have to turn it off. When you switch to economy mode, it turns it back on. It doesn't work bad, maybe just would take time to get accustomed to...
3. Fuel efficiency. Maybe because I was changing modes too much, or not driving like I normally would, it wasn't much more efficient than my 2011 e92 335xi.

I'll post an update when I get my car back on Friday.

I would have preferred that to the X3 with leatherette interior I am driving around right now. The rear seats have the same or less leg room than my e92 haha

Ha ha that reminds me of the time I almost took a 535 xDrive- fully loaded - to North Conway New Hampshire from New Jersey (362 miles, give or take) and back because of that stupid hardtop problem, but sure as shit they fixed it right as rain (pun intended) right before my trip- although they seem to have no reservations about me doing so

Just took mine in today for an oil change and vehicle check (still under warranty). I didn't even mention the VANOS recall since I forgot, but my SA advised it was under recall and all the necessary parts were available. I received a X1 as a loaner....only thing they had left. It's not that bad but I was expecting at least a 328i or 428i. Oh well.

Got my oil change done and the recall taken care of. Paper stated replacing 8 VANOS Bolt. Also due to excessive smoke under acceleration they replaced V-Bands and catalytic converter. I also realized a 150RPM increase which did seem to help the shaking at idle but not fully cured it. Received a 2015 F30 328XI with a little less than 400 miles on it

Got my car back today. No, they didn't give me any "gifts".

No problems indicated. they just changed the bolts and that's it. They did a very good job washing it...

I was kind of disappointed with the customer service. I called and left a voicemail for the SA at 7:30am that she should call me to confirm that the car was done. At 9am, I left the house thinking that it must be done. It's a 40 min drive. I show up at 9:40, the SA still hasn't called me, and the guy who hands me my keys says "Oh yeah, she said you'd be stopping in". And I'm thinking - I never said that on my voicemail, and she never called me back. If my car wasn't done, I'd have been PISSED driving that far and no car. Nice customer service. No wonder I hate bringing my car in.

Reminds me of the time I had something done at Tires Plus. Dropped off the car at 8:30AM, wife picked me up. Late in the day I call them thinking - well it must be done by now. Guy answers and tells me "Oh yeah, it's been done since like 10:30". Here it's 4:30pm, no one ever called either of the two numbers I gave them. Thanks for fucking letting me know my car was ready! I'll not be going there again. EVER.

Don't they realize how important cars are to people? If you're in a car service industry, then surely you understand that, right?

I dropped my car off Friday morning and got it back Monday evening. I also had an oil change and a brake fluid change done. Don't know why it took them that long. They did give me a $50 gift card for BMW merchandise from their store.

Yeah they're notorious for doing that shit- it's so silly.

As I see it, keeping the customer in the loop is rule number one in good customer service- for better or for worse.
