Used techron for the first time..

I couldn\'t be happier.
It got rid of my rpm jumps, rough cold idles, and everything in-between... I\'m using this every 5000 miles from now on.. Was gonna seafoam too, thru the vacuum line off the dv valves (mr.5 method or something).. Anyone have any good or bad info on that? Do I need an oil change after??

I have a bottle of this. waiting until i have to get an oil change because ive heard you should do so after using this....

I run techron every 5K miles..helps keep injectors and fuel system clean..recently I used BG-44K...which is supposed to be even more concentrated than techron..this is good insurance especially w the n54's tempermental fuel delivery system..no need for an oil change since it does not clean the intake valves due to the car's direct injection configuration

I have been using Chevron with Techron for the last few months. I used to feel that Chevron didnt have good performance....but i have been having good results lately.

It works to the extent it will clean your injectors and fuel system..it will not clean your intake valves b/c direct injection does not spray fuel through the intake valve ports

I wanted to add that Lucas Oil makes a good fuel system cleaner, you could use it every so often as well. I personally prefer Lucas or Redline to Chevron...

Lucas also sells an upper cylinder lubricant with injector cleaner... this would be good to use with each fill-up if you are running race gas. If you are using regular gas (Shell, Chevron, etc.) it will come with some cleaners and detergents in it so you wouldn't need anything every tank. A local Exxon sells some 100 octane "rocket fuel" race gas; I called the local oil company that distrubutes it and they said it is pure gasoline: no ethanol, no detergents, not oxygenated, no lead, etc. It is about 9.35 a gallon and worth mixing with some regular 93 octane on these 100 degree types of days (for a track visit). Point is, I would use the upper cylinder lubricant with injector cleaner in EVERY tank if I was running race gas like this in every tank.

I have been thinking about the sea foam myself, I have about 32k miles now and I know my intake valves have to be getting some gunk by now. As well all know, with DI there is no way to clean them using fuel system additives. It also makes me wonder though, with DI do they get as dirty? Maybe it works both ways?

I guess Sea Foam or taking off the heads to manually clean intake valves are the only 2 options that I know of. I would like to get it done, either way, sometime in the somewhat near future.

All of those are basically the same formula. Look at the msds (ingredients label) and you will notice that they are all petrolium distilates (basically kerosene or a light fuel) and mineral spirits...
