What's wrong with using contact cleaner? Done so for years with no issues...

Just did this a few days ago after following this great DIY and when I unplugged the sensor, it actually looked fairly clean but I sprayed it anyways with the cleaner and put it back in. Now my car runs smoother and doesn't have the idling issue I was having before. Can't believe this was the reason.

Does anyone know what size are the torx screws that get installed on the sensor? I lost 1 of them and had to use another different type of screw to put it back on, but it's not completely tight, so I am trying to get the same torx screws to put back on.

Don't remember toque size / 15 or 25 torx? Check out realoem should give the answers - and order one online.

you forgot to mentionot that you shound wait till the car is completely cooled*** down before you start spraying cleaner at the sensor, or else the MAF sensor will die quickly

Always best to do this sort of thing once the engine has cooled down. But based on how the MAF works, it should cool off quickly since it's job is to sense temperature change via ambient temperature and airflow, it should be fine to clean quite soon after being removed. But, since it is an expensive sensor, it makes sense to practice as much care as possible.

I think it's the T25 scree that I need.

Can I get this from Home Depot or do I need to get them from an auto parts store?
