Safety Recall - worth checking!
By chance I stumbled on the UK government website on UK car safety recalls. To my surprise I found that my 17-year old E92 had an outsanding recall. Booked it in at a BMW dealer and I now have a brand new drivers airbag! Might be worth checking your E9X to make sure...

Good catch! My 2010 E91 325d says it has one out stand too…. And I had the power cable and something else done a few years ago so isn’t that.
What’s the airbag recall involve? |

In my case it was simply a new airbag fitted.

A word of caution if you are going in for the recall...
I left my car there expecting a quick airbag swap. It's become a bit of a melodrama. Turns out, they bricked the Footwell module during the process of disconnecting the battery. BMW are covering this thankfully, however my alarm siren was not working. This has never really come up before, as well, car alarms are pointless as 99.99% of people ignore them. Anyway. They could not re-code the new footwell module. Left me bent over a barrel as the car couldn't be driven until I spent an astonishing £381 on a new alarm siren. It's infuriating to spend that much money on something I don't fecking need in order to get my car back. All in, I wish I hadn't bothered. So. If you're getting the recall, make sure that you have 0 codes stored just in case. Also, if anything is modified you might be in trouble if the footwell module bricks itself. |

I attended airbag recall on the 28 Feb at Chigwell. Had lots of error codes due to aftermarket instrument cluster. In 2 hours got the car back with new driver airbag and no new issues, thankfully.
When I visited same place last summer for vacuum pump recall and retrofit I had lots of issues with them and car was going back to them for another 3 times to sort out issues they created and in total car speed 3 weeks in their garage. I haven't spent a penny that time , but raised 2 complaints to get it sorted and one of complaints I was raising with Sytner head office. |
