Hello, I have issue with generating 1b.hex file on my E91 2012 with 609 CIC Navi, I have one 32 GB pendrive that did not worked after so many attempts on formatting it various ways (even with rufus) and it did not worked on it, I tried 2 GB pendrive with same setup as with 32 GB pendrive and still no reaction from it.

I checked if USB in glovebox does work with pendrive that has maps installed on it and it did recognize that there are maps and with it I know that this USB port is fine.

Any help will be very appreciated!

USB Script file does not work for all CIC. You will have to pull 1B File with Cable and App like SWID Reader.

UPDATE: A simple automated method has been developed by portalseo.
Just put his program on a USB stick, plug it into the glovebox, and your 1b file will appear on the stick:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1461515

Many thanks to Rotary Rasp and many others for developing these tools and techniques,
I just combined several approaches to find a 12 step program.
Here goes:

1. Get a ENET cable (yes, even though e9x doesn't normally use ENET).
These typically end up costing about $5 by the time you pay for shipping and everything, but you can certainly save some money by making your own.
Search eBay for "bmw enet", see this example for pre-made cables, or make your own with these instructions.
2. Set your PC/Android/Mac ethernet port to IP: 169.254.199.98, subnet: 255.255.255.0, Gateway: 169.254.199.99, any DNS
3. Connect the cable and turn on the car (acc mode is fine)
4. In your web browser go to: ftp://169.254.199.99
5. It should prompt for a login, user name is "root", password is either "Hm83stN)" or "cic0803"
6. Click the link to go up a directory a couple of times then browse to /HBpersistence/normal and download the file "generalPersistencyData_DiagnosticSWTControlle r"
7. Disconnect from the car and get that file into Windows
8. Open the file in a hex editor like Hxd http://mh-nexus.de/downloads/HxDSetupEN.zip
9. Press CTRL-F to search, change the search mode to "Hex" and then search for "01 01 00 1B”. Note that the data just before this should read "3F 01 00 00", otherwise see 9a below.
10. Highlight and delete everything prior to "01 01 00 1B”
11. Go to line (offset) 130 and delete the last block and everything after. The data to be deleted should begin with "3F 01", otherwise see 11a below.
12. Save the file as "a.hex", which should be exactly 319 bytes
I mean this.

Yes, that will produce 1B.

For Exx car, you need K+DCAN Cable, and you need EDIABAS installed with EDIABAS.ini set for "INTERFACE = STD:OBD".

I have EDIABAS Inpa compatible S/N: fdi0003524 blue cable that I guess is K+DCAN Cable, with ediabas 7.3.0 installed on windows 7, "Interface = STD:OBD" set on and in SWID Reader shows that it can't see VIN with it can't progress further.

Exact error that I have in SWID Reader is "datatransmission to interface disturbed"

X5 F15 map update

Hi, I'm trying to do a map update on my 2017 BMW X5 40e, but I'm stuck on the step of getting the file 1b.hex. After unpacking the zip, I get 2 files on the USB, then I can't plug it in glovebox USB port because I don't have one there (I read online that from the factory, there isn't a port and all media and data transfer goes through the one under the armrest in center console). I tried 5 different USBs and the result is the same - I'm left with only files that were extracted from the archive. What can be wrong here? Help please

Yeah, sorry I'm kinda new in this. Done some more research and found that there is an NBTevo system and the procedure is different. I need to install an NBTevo Europe 2025-02 map.

With Region Change to Europe, you need patch and full set of custom FSC Codes. Your PM function is disabled. Send one when enabled.

Hello
In my 2018 BMW 218d F46, VIN: ...5K65142, I now have the Road Map Europe WAY 2017-3 map. I downloaded the latest Road Map Europe WAY 2026-1 map, unzipped it to a flash drive, and during installation, I get the message: "Please connect a USB device with a valid activation code." Apparently, I need the FSC file. What should I do? Where can I find it? Can anyone help?
