Hi guys,
when pushing it, how do you upshift? Is it OK to: 1) Full throttle 2) Jab clutch, change gears 3) Apply full throttle? Or do you have to give it gas as you're releasing the clutch? I sometimes have problems when I shift at 6.5krpm, I give some gas, and I hear the engine rev up, and then the clutch engages... so can I give less gas? Also, does the CDV have any effect on this high-rev high-speed upshifting? The effect seems greatly increased for me at high speeds, dunno if I am relating it to the right thing or not. Thanks. |

Push in in until it disengages and then very slightly more (like 1/8") if you want to be sure you are not slipping it. Once you get the feel of it it is second nature.

thanks guys!
Also, 1. what is the rationale behind launching from 2nd gear vs 1st? 2. Is it faster to launch by taking 1st gear up to 3k and then 2nd to redline, or just redline shift redline? |

Ok so I am quite concerned with my clutch. It was just replaced, and I continue to smell it burning after I park. What causes this? I will explain how i drive the car and maybe someone can tell me what I am doing wrong.
1. I start the car with the clutch to the floor. I begin to give the car gas and slowly release the clutch. Seems that if i release the clutch quickly i either stall or the car hiccups. 2. If I am going from lets say 75 miles an hour to 30 miles an hour. I will be in sixth gear i will slow down till about 40 and then engage the clutch and go into 3rd gear. Is this wrong? 3.When turning i will engage the clutch and release when the turn is over and will be in 2nd gear. 4. If i am going 80 and i see traffic infront of me i simply engage the clutch and coast to the traffic and then put into 1st or 2nd gear when at the appropriate speed. Am i suppose to go from 6th-5th-4th-3rd-2nd.???

QUick question guys....
At the track, when im coming from a straight going 180-200+, how do I tackle a turn thats pretty much 90 degrees? I mean in terms of shifting, since theres quite a bit of hard braking, should I be going 5-4-3-2 or just slow down, double clutch and pop into 2nd? I find that when i go through all the gears, I end up having to slow down well before i really need to. Any opinions?
