idrive screen black, no stereo

Good evening, typical, looking to sell my wife's 2005 330i and the i drive has stopped working, the centre screen is black, there is a strange wirring noise sometimes but not always, it use to flicker on and off and then for months it would behave, now nothing is happening, no stereo or cd etc, any ideas?
thanks Steve.

Today awoke and the car battery is dead flat, had to get RAC to come out and put a charge into the battery as i could not even work the central locking, the dead CCC unit fan has been working non stop and has killed the battery, at idle the drain on the battery is 3.98amps, acceptable level is 0.5 amp!! had to go to MD as the fuse diagram is pants, they managed to pull the fuse for me so hopefully we will not have a dead battery anymore, the CCC is certainly dead so will have to sell car like it, going to get peanuts for a perfectly good well maintained car, so frustrating...... Steve.

They can generally be repaired, there are a few companies that advertise a repair service, it’s around £250-£400 though.

The appear to charge a fee to diagnose of about £60 so could be an option as it may be something simple.

Buy this: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BMW-E90-E...9/173834703266

Plug it in & get someone to code it remotedly. If your lucky, it might even just work straight off the bat, depending on your options.

Problem solved

I take it that you've tried a forced reboot?

Hi Chappers,

yes i have held the volume button in and the two eject buttons in for a number of seconds but nothing happened, i have had to remove the fuse as the cooling fan at the rear of the ccc runs continuous which drained a brand new battery! thanks Steve.

Yeah unfortunately I found with mine that the reset worked a few times, then it just died completely. You can get them repaired for around £250.
I ended changing to cic though.
