Pass Restraint Malfunction Every time its humid

so whenever it's wet outside or humid the restraint system malfunction comes on car has been in a accident before but was fixed by pervious owner. i clear the codes and they seem to go away for 4 days or maybe a couple weeks at a time sometimes not sure what it is but it really is annoying. driver door was replaced in accident.

any clue to what could be causing this?

(off topic question) i wrapped my roof carbon fiber by 3m and my car stopped detecting the key from the inside but still detects it for the trunk. both ca door handles are broken (been broken) does the antenna detect the key or the door handles?

thanks in advance

There was a recall on the passenger presence sensor mat for many e90. Check if you are part of it.

This is the left headrest active restraint.

Could be just a dirty connector. In at least some cars, there are two connectors; one under the seat and the other just underneath the head rest (to access you have to remove the seat back panel).

If you just want to code it out, set AKS_LINKS_1_CD = nicht_aktiv with NCSExpert. Then clear error memory with INPA. You may also have to unplug one of the connectors, not sure about that.

i'm almost sure its a dirty or shorted connector because it used to come and go now its always there, u happen to know which one it is on e92 335is?

I think bimmergeeks has a link. https://www.bimmergeeks.net/downloads

Rheingold should be ISTA. What you have now I think is INPA.

ISTA/Rheingold will show you pictures of where components and sometimes connectors are but you can get that information on-line as well. In both cases you'll have to dig around to find where BMW decided the information should be placed.

You're looking for connectors X13538 and X17153 (for driver side)

Lets say i don't choose the coding route cause i'm slow when it comes to this kinda stuff. what would i need to replace to fix this? only code i'm getting is 93ae on inpa, car was hit in the driver door (side swept) driver airbag and side airbag deployed during accident. as far as i'm aware e92 335is does not have active headrest, so what could it be?

You got me there. It is odd that your error related to a function your vehicle does not have.

That leaves only a few options, one being that for whatever reason, 93AE is reflecting problems with other aspects of the restraint system. You are left then with tracking down all the airbag, occupancy mat and seat belt tensioner connectors for checking/cleaning.

Or you could just code stuff out and see if the light goes away. You might want to learn a bit about coding. It does not require expensive stuff and just requires a little study. There are many guides in the forums.

Are you sure about not having active head restraints?

As far as I know 2009 and up E90 have them and I don't see why E92 wouldn't. I think a way to tell is manual tilt. If they can't tilt forward or backwards they're active. Not sure.

i'm pretty sure e92 dosen't have active head restraints and the leather on headrest is not accessible so u can't repair it is a thing. either way both my headrests are the same angle so i'm not entirely sure, but that airbag light ruins the car for me.

I got a feeling you do have active restraints. I guess I'd google around for trustworthy ways to make a determination
