Multiple iDrive messages/errors
Hi All, first post to try & get some help on my problem, so hope this is the correct place, & that someone might be able to advise, please. This is a copy of earlier post submitted in (wrong) F90 forum.
2010 BMW 318i MSport Business Edition 2 - Nottingham UK area. I have an idrive warning display showing: 'High Braking Load' (amber triangle) and 'Engine Fault! Reduced performance' (or something like - also amber), & Red 'Engine! Stop vehicle carefully'. I've also had a battery warning (& symbol) advising battery is low, when in actual fact it's fine - car starts no problem. Hopefully I've managed to add pic in here. These warning came on whist returning home the other day, and seemed to cycle from one to the other. Not sure if it's coincidental that these warning seemed to appear after I'd been looking at the front left parking light. I have an error for that so was trying to see how complex that might have been to resolve. Even that, for me, looked a mare, but I did disconnect the wire to it to see if I could remove the bulb from above. I couldn't, so naturally reconnected the connector. I've checked in service part of idrive & seems I'm due brake fluid service, so am wondering if any of these errors could be associated with that? The car is running fine, although it's parked up for now until I can understand the seriousness of the warnings, & determine what to do. Am loathe to go to dealer with it, but if that's the solution then so be it. I'm not car savvy, don't have any testing kit (& wouldn't know how to use it anyway), so just looking for thoughts on what the problems could be, & wondering if the likes of Halfords will be able to sort this, rather than getting ripped-off at dealership. Thanks for reading, any advice much appreciated. |

Since posting this, a local BMW specialist has noted that these errors are not necessarily engine related but could be linked to recalls/quality enhancements for brake vacuum pressure system, sensor, or timing chain.
Would be grateful for any constructive thoughts/views/experiences on this. Thanks. |

I've had it scanned - chap cleared codes said it was ok. He disappeared, I took it for a drive. Faults came back on. Just had it re-scanned using snap-on Modis kit, provides error code 14082/3702. Anyone know what this relates to? Guy suggests it maybe brake servo unit pressure sensor? If so, one of those items that needs coding into car apparently. Grateful for any input here please. Thanks.

As per my PM yesterday mate, it seems to be pointing towards the brake vacuum pressure sensor. I see these fail so often. iirc I sent you the part number for the one suitable for your car too.
I wouldn't recommend a BMW retailer for the fix as the part will come in at over £200 and then the labour will come in somewhere in the region of 2 hours (you can change it in about 10 minutes if you've got a decent pry bar and a bit of patience! Best of luck
