E93 Alpina B3 - spotted one!

Yesterday I saw a E93 Alpina & all I can say is WOW! It was black & had some funky coloured interior!

1st I thought it was an AMG Merc as its got the twin tailpipes at each side!

& was it fast.......... it blew my 330D AWAY!

I'd have this over a M3 E93 any day....... it looked more mature, classy!?

It is just a tuned 335i.. You could buy an e93 335i DCT, quaife diff, KW V3, M3 suspension arms, Tune, downpipes, exhaust and intercooler. A few visual mods e.g. wheels, bumpers etc. Maybe a custom interior and you are more than there. You could easily save £20k.

Alpina's dont seem to hold their value anywhere near as well as M-Cars either.

The looks aint my cup of tea!

An E92 version overtook me the other night.

It was very understated.

Looked very bouncy suspension at the rear.

Alpina's are very much of a marmite car. The looks for me are stuck in the previous century. Having said that, I'm not sure if I love it or hate it!

I've seen a few E93 Alpina B3 and I'd rather have an M Sport 335i tbh. The Alpina just looks like 1920's arm chair cigar smoking meets aggressive modern sports car. I really don't get the appeal tbh. Seems like a way of saying I have a rare version of a common car. Very over-priced imo, especially when they are priced higher than equivalent M cars!

There are just too many bits I couldn't live with
- Horrible odometer etc
- Wood? If you like wood why don't you buy a Jag?
- Depreciation
- Hideous alloys (Only a mother could love them). Look like they came of a 1990s 7 series
- Ugly steering wheel
- Spoiler is does not fit the lines of the car
- Quad exhaust, not bad, but with those wheels?!

Each to their own though!

Theres a B3 that I've seen a few times around Leicester. It actually looks quite subtle, much more so than the M3, and I quite like it. Still its a lot of money to pay for what is essentially a tuned 335i.

Will be ordering the New B3 when it's released.

I personally like how subtle Alpinas are, I get asked about it a lot when filling up at the petrol station and get nothing but positive comments from other road users.

In all honesty I haven't got the time to buy a 335i and 'mod it up' and I don't want an M-Car (e46-e90 m3's etc) because of how many you see being driven by numpties.

Horses for courses at the end of the day.

Save £20k?

These have been available for around the mid £20k bracket for a while unless I've got the wrong car.

I like them, but they'd have to be more in the middle of 335 - M3 money for me to consider one. If I spent £25k on one I'd be thinking "should've got M3 DCT'.

I looked at a possible route of the D3 yet I so cant stand the wheels (sorry wheel lovers) the rest appeals as its different, yet get a good one, change the wheels defeats the point and just jacks the price up without added value, so went Msport as maybe common, yet i like it and that's what counts (and I have little i want to mod on it)

Looks are always a matter of taste, obviously. Me personally, I like the rims and the spoilers (and they ARE efficient). And the engine is great, I'd take one over the M3 any time - if they existed with a manual transmission.

Totally agree about looks and taste, as I say I love all about them except the wheels, yet on my E46 I had the type 68 wheels i loved, yet many hated lol
